Heh, continent? There are issues back in the day where he moved planets.
Superman's powers have waxed and waned over the years, usually every decade or two, depending on new authors, new societal needs, etc. For instance, they made him less powerful, and more human, so they could write WWII superman comics. They had to, otherwise there would be no explanation for why he didn't just win the war for us in half an hour....
