Today one of the older slaves gave me this book, he told me to
write about my experiences. So this is the first entry, of
hopefully many. I must hide this book and not let them find it.

I think it's my 11th birthday sometime this week. It's been
3 years and a bit since I last saw the sun. I wonder if my eyes
could see it, could they adjust to the light after so many days.
I want to find another book for Vaye, but she does not want to
get caught.

and Vaye won the bet, I had to do her night time tidy duties.
I overheard the slavemasters talking about work in the Underdark.
I won't be able to take the book, after this entry I will hide it.

It's been 2 years since my last entry. We had to sleep in the
Underdark, with nothing but Drow soldiers to protect us from the
the fishers. Vaye calls them fishies, she does not respect the danger.
Back in Teth, hopefully for awhile now.

Just got out of two months isolation. For the crime of standing up
for my sister Vaye when the Slavemaster was whipping her for
no reason. She seems okay, it was harder on me. Standing up
for myself was perhaps (the rest of the page is torn).

My sister keeps talking about our mother and father. I try to tell
her that we will not see them again. We never saw their demise
but we have seen the brutality of the Drow and it's what we
can expect from themmm (the last letter is spludged by a drop of
water).

I have to believe that all drow are truely evil beings, but with the
possible exception of one. Elzaress has treated me and Vaye surprisingly
well. Though I am sure it's out of pity, rather than any decency.
Ezaress looked at me in the eyes and said these words which seem to
stick with me. "When you are not a child, you will come back here
and slay the Drow, I foresee it". Until this moment, I only thought about
leaving, the idea of coming back had never occurred to me.
Ezaress further said "And one day you will seek me out to test your

and I was sick all night, I almost didn't make the morning shift. I think
it was because of the iron filings that get in to the gruel. These creatures
have no regards for iron contamination. I sure would love to sprinkle
some mithril flakes in their dinner.
