Chapter 3

The world must be so simple if you're a dogmatist.

I've had ambiguous choices many times. I once guided a mage towards a wand
in a vault, against the will of goodly guardians. I showed him how to get
to the wand without killing anyone. I could've just refused to help, taking
the responsibility off my shoulders, but knowing the mage would've probably
had to fight and slay some of the guardians as he explored on his own.

Is it better to aid in stealing from them to save them, or to wash your
hands and let them die? Or should I have turned on the mage? I'm not sure
I would like whatever different dogmas have to say about it.

I'll freely give advice and guidance without prying too much, unless the
beneficiary clues themselves as evil immediately. I can't see auras, does
that mean I should assume they're evil until I learn otherwise? Hell no.

I've got trade connections everywhere, even in Udgaard and Imperial guilds.
Does that make me a bad man? What if I use the acquired goods or money from
my deals to fight the very oppression of the Empire?

Speaking of commerce... I'm probably the wealthiest Centaur ever by now.
I could invest in land and declare myself lord of Centaurville or whatever.
Or give to the poor, but I WILL make sure about them first. Money, unlike
advice or guidance, is much easier to misuse.
