Chapter 18

A heavily muscled figure lays in a bed of the coma ward. Bandages cover
head and a drain slowly leaks fluid from the back of his skull. By his
side is a young stocky figure, slumped back in a chair, eyes closed, head
tilted back. Both figures are bathed in the light of static filling the
screen before them. Slowly the young stocky figure begins to move pushing
himself to his feet. Walking to the television he hits the eject button
of the VCR, and promptly greeted by the innane screams of an infomercial.

Sekope stands before Grime in the battle village, barterering trade for
some sides of venison. Suddenly his eyes glaze over as his right arm lifts
probing the back of his head.

"I'm gunna need a knife for this venison lad. Something that will never go
dull ... Yeah cut through a shoe need a knife that can cut through a shoe.
If I buy now I get one free but thats not all right lad?"

Sekope slwoly shakes his head as life comes back to his eyes, looking down
he sees an array of knives carefully arranged on the ground in two identical
sets.
