Chapter 3

1. Acceptance. Having been blessed by the Father, it was easy for me to
convince the Voice of my rightful place in the Cult. I grow, but I remain
inexperienced in the eyes of my guildmasters. I think that has something to
do with the others of the Cult seeing me as a youth. Even so, my power comes
directly from Him. My Will is exerted through His blessing. As the only
priest of the Cult, I must overcome the others' perceptions. Their eyes may
be opened, but they are not touched by the Father as I have been. I must be
more assertive in my mannerisms if I am to assume a place of leadership.

2. Talks with the Voice. Quarissa was extremely helpful in helping me find my
way in my early years in the Temple. Her expectations of me were to assist
her in spreading the word to the Profane whether by speech or by destruction.
I at first thought that she was grooming me to be her successor, but my
bull's mouth cannot properly form words. Many I try to speak with choose to
ignore me rather than attempt a conversation. The Voice recommended I ask a
boon of the Father to make my speech more articulate. I will keep that in
mind for the future if I am granted such an opportunity. In the meantime, the
Father has presented a different avenue to leadership in the Cult. Quarissa
is both wise and strong. It is a shame she is well past childbearing age. The
potential of my child by her womb would be limitless.

3. Interactions with the Father. I made a number of blood sacrifices to the
Father in His mausoleum. After my most recent, the Father's voice whispered
to me. He promised to make me the Flame if I prayed to Him above the corpse
of a Maran. This, I will endeavor to do. The Maran Captain is as strong in
body as he is weak in spirit. I must grow more and be cunning in order to
earn my place as Flame. A second item of note, which I believe to be tied to
the Father's promise, my offerings are consumed by fire upon the shattered
remains of His altar. Whether this has to do with me becoming the Flame or if
there is a deeper meaning, I do not yet know. The Voice thinks it is because
I am favored by the Father, but no more. I will be attentive to more clues.
