Chapter 6

This is the reason she will refuse and show nothing but disdain for
those who seek the oath after 25 guildranks. Better if by the time one
is 20. Also, she is in no way concerned with what others may call
"honor" or "courage" or anything remotely connected to those. She
neither seeks nor shuns combat with many against one. She enjoys the
killing, and she does so herself because she has the strength, and
likes it. But she has no qualms doing it with others with her as well.
The enemy dies just the same. In this way she shows both her strength,
and also gives full rein to her greed, to take what she might envy from
those that oppose her.

The other area of course is her patron, the Voice of Tyranny Enlilth.
she has, in her mind at least, developed a strong bond with her master.
She has no qualms thinking of him that way as she has placed a wall in
her mind between the world of mortals, where she accepts none above her,
and the world of immortals, who are simply different beings with whom she
does not, would not, could not compete. She takes no pain to be above
the caterpillar, or slug, and as such must mortals seem to the gods. But
of course the difference is the Gods and mortals interact, and in fact
the gods derive some amount of power from mortals. More mortal followers,
more mortals impacting thera on their behalf, the greater the god becomes.
And her god must be greatest. Is greatest. She is not fool enough to think
she is his only follower, but she is and will be his most important, his
best, his most lethal, most fearsome, most devout and most entertaining.
They may not share all the same tastes, but they are of one mind on almost
all other things, and of a surety all things important. She sees it as her
duty to spread his word and power, by word and by example, as much as she
spreads the Empire. They are in fact intertwined in her mind, as she adopted
both nearly simultaneously.

Finally, she has decided that now that she is to take that final step to
the throne, she must think of how others think of her. She is not quite as
brash and defiant as she was when a youth, and has seen from her Lord's example
that sometimes the carrot works better than the stick. She will not become
simpering housewife cow, but she may be a bit more tolerant and perhaps even
show some humor (dark humor to be sure) around other citizens. Trust none, but
cajole them as necessary. They must fear her, but also respect her and perhaps
most important not dislike her, for her to achieve the final status.
