Chapter 4

With each life she takes she takes a step toward her greater goals. To each she
tears from life she offers submission to Enlilth and the oath to the Empire. Why?
Because she is Enlilth's fist, his cutting blade, and all who do not submit to his
will are to be destroyed. But also because the Empire is HER Empire. She will be
High Priestess and Empress, and to offer to the Oath is to expand her own power.
As the books say, killing is to teach. They must learn her power. They must learn
the power and majesty of the Empire. They must learn the wisdom of the strength
of Enlilth. Once they do, they can be welcomed as her subjects, as citizens of her
Empire. There are some few who she will not extend the choice. Some few who simply
cannot or will not learn, and who are not fit for the Empire. Some prove to be
such over time, some are known from the start. But for most, she will extend the
chance to submit. If not, their only choice is death. And she enjoys that, very,
very, much.

For now she follows the guidance of her Lord. He needs his unholy fist to strike
terror and death into his enemies, and there are many of her age. At the same time
the Divine Sect, indeed the Empire, needs leadership. And she will not suffer
another to rise above her. The question then is to continue laying waste to those
around her, or to rise quickly, and don the mantles of High Priestess and then
Empress. As always the Lord Enlilth showed wisdom, saying there is no rush, no
need to haste impressing some guildmaster. He enjoys the wash of blood she has
brought almost as much as she has in the doing. Advance as may happen, but do not
seek speed. If another divine comes, she can deal with that then. For now, she should
continue to enjoy the sight of the boils and sores erupting on her foes. Their blood
burning with poison. Their eyes blackened by Enlilth's power. ENjoy the views, and
ensure the victims know no respite. That is her path for now.
