Will it ever return?
If it does, I will.
Great marketing plan to bring back some of the old timers!

If it returns I'll leave.
Unless the "chaotic stupid" character is never allowed entrance. We just got rid of those ####ers, why invite them back in?

I pretty much agree there.
There were some great characters in Entropy, but for the most part for every great character you got twenty retarded ones.

That character was more interesting than chaotic stupid from my interactions.

Well as someone who played a character you'd probably despise as being "chaotic stupid", I'll give a counterargument.
Some people enjoy the kind of characters you think of as chaotic stupid. Just as you hate those sort of zany, funny (maybe not to you) characters, other people hate the ascerbic, arrogant loners that also crop up. Certainly I'd never argue that Chaotic Stupid isn't an apt and reasonable way to describe certain bad characters. And not every character that goes for zany and funny hits the mark, but anym eans. But to me, and a number of other people, these kinds of characters are a lot of fun to be around when they work.
I enjoy cf more when it's not just a bunch of people taking themselves incredibly seriously. There's definitely a place for the dark and brooding necromancers, the righteous and proud paladins and all the other oh-so-serious characters. But there's also room for something a little more light-hearted. I could probably go into a whole rant about how too CF has grown more serious and how there are some drawbacks to that, I won't.

I hated dealing with the "shovel" and "turkey leg" type chaotic stupid chars, personally.
But, I understand that some people find them fun to play, and interact with.
But my view is, you can do them just as easily now as you could then.
My beef, was with the whole Entropy cabal being a cabal at all. it just seemed like the height of Hypocracy to me to have a defined Group of supposedly completely chaotic characters.
I found "chaotic stupid" characters some of the most predictable (therefore orderly in my opinion) characters I've ever met in cf.
By all means, play them if you like, I just don't see that you need an organized cabal to do it.
(I looked at the slew of chaotic stupid chars like I look at kids today...trying to show how independant they are by doing the same....exact....things...as...everyone...else) South park did a nice bit on how stupid and hypocritical that was, when I think it was kyle (might have been stan) turned goth for a while.

This is sort of both to you and Nivek who said similar things about how every Entropy character ends up the same. In one sense, that would seem true even if everyone had the same view of chaos and executed their characters to perfection. Entropy, from my perspective, was based on the principle of chaos in an almost mathematical sense. That is, disconnecting cause from effect and just creating a series of events with no interconnectedness. No patterns and no way to predict one moment from the next.
If this is done perfectly, however, people don't perceive it as truly random, they perceive it as being "all the same". It's just a consequence of how our minds work. For example, radio static is pretty much as random as anything you'll ever see, but exactly because there are no patterns, it's interpreted as being all the same.
However that's really just a theoretical ideal, and a character that was truly random wouldn't be any fun to be around, because they'd just be like radio noise. I don't really think any player is going to be capable of that anyway, so it's kind of a moot point. Unfortunately, what happens is that people do fall into patterns of "hey isn't this extra wacky!" This is because it's very hard to be constantly creative and totally inventive, which is sort of what the role demands.
Personally I tried to take the angle that I was basically a normal being with a normal, rational sentient mind, but who was trying to let go of that and approach chaos as nearly as possible despite the limitations imposed. For me this sort of explained away the fact that I, the player, am not really capable of being totally random, even if I wanted to (which I don't).
>By all means, play them if you like, I just don't see that you >need an organized cabal to do it.
But you don't really need a cabal to do anything. You can be a paladin fighting evil, a warrior fighting magic or any of Thera's other themes without having a cabal. People want there to be a cabal because it gives you something to focus your roleplay around, and similar characters to define yourself against. It's not neccesary, but it's helpful.
