You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#25, "Make Familiar Agility Functionally useful"

Currently the familiar agility edge gives you the dodge skill at a percent equal to your dex while fighting with your familiar. So 20-25% depending on your race assuming you max it.

In the most common use case (humans) a 20% dodge with 20 dex is going to dodge like 1 in several thousand attacks.

There are 9 non quest familiars, 3 of them are a really really bad idea to use in PK due to their frailness (even with edges).

If this edge was as expensive as keys to success I suppose it would be cool but it is in the mid tier in terms of cost for so low practical use it really is kind of a waste even for an arial.

Simple change would be to just triple the dodge % you get.

Cooler change would be to make this function similar to how a bonded warrior parries for their bond mate and at a similar rate as that affect (except it would be a message about your familiars senses warning you of danger and you dodge).

Is pretty cool on a conjie or shaman (Drow shaman can also get it). Much better than you'd expect.

Don't take the edge if your familiar is fragile?

Your math is off by a hell of a lot.
