You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#15, "Please make PK stats somewhat player trackable"

Now that people know the benchmarks (from twist) for pk's etc. Is there any reason someone can not see the amount of PK's (solo etc) that they have accrued? We get to see all various types of exp/etc...but nada about PK's

Please?

Preface: I realize it's not hard to keep track on your own and that many players do. So be it.

CF already caters very heavily toward Killers and those who are very competitive. Likewise, through the Premium Battlefield we give everyone posthumous access to this data and the ability to do things like generate leaderboards, rankings, etc.

I'm not really interested in leaning even further in that direction. I'm also of the opinion that if this information were readily available in game it would encourage some bad behavior.

Not only do I think no good would come of it, I'm fairly confident a not insignificant amount of harm would too.

I think several players would be sorely tempted to bend rp and get that last kill in if it meant some edgepoints. While this may still happen, I think the temptation would get much stronger if you knew you were close, the numbers were low, and your prayer for "Could an IMM please speak with me OOC in ROTD?" were suspiciously unanswered.

#73, "ELO rating"

Has there ever been any dicussion of creating some kind PK rating system similar to ELO or TrueSkill? AP charges seem similar to this. But I have a feeling the mechanics of the AP charge system are more simple than ELO.

The ranking would be based on the relative skill of opponents beaten. This would reduce the benefit of PKing lower ranked players as it would do almost nothing to improve your rating. While at the same time, when a higher ranked player loses to a lower ranked player the change in each's ranking is large.

The big benefit of a number like this over the current straight number of PKs ranking is you remove the incentive for veterans to PK newbies.
