You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#344, "Let Shapeshifters see terrain type in form"

Subject pretty much says it all, but I was struck by this when I used the deforest skill, that I:

1) Couldn't necessarily figure out where that skill could be applied other than using it in a 'wilderness' room and seeing failure or it starting to work.
2) Couldn't tell that it actually worked, or how long it worked, or really what the effect was to that particular room. (For instance, I'd have liked to have used it on a room, and then checked back later to see if it was still affected without having to try to deforest the room again).

I could also see this being a boon to any other shifter skills or newly added shifter skills TBD where they would possibly be terrain dependant. Also helpful for water shifters in the same way that it's helpful for mariner rangers.

This actually exists for most all shifter forms that have something terrain specific. Deforest was one that I missed, and it has been added.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
