#33, "Why would you do such a thing to ruin a character?"

I don't get why you would post a note to the chancellor and me, trying to ruin my character?

Try and make out to the current chancellor that I am the 'Empire's bitch' when I am far from it. I have ranked with imperials but I defy you to name any scion applicant who hasn't used Imperials to rank and gain in strength. I fought against the maran/fortress to aid the healer I wished to rank with, to get his item back, so I could use what little logged in time I had, ranking. The maran deserves a beating anyway in the eyes of my character given the hassle he has with squires.

One incident does not make me an 'Empire's bitch'!

When scion is hard to get into at the moment and player numbers are low, I don't get why you would go out of your way to try and #### a character over like this!? If I was a serial Empire helper, sure but I am not.

I think it is really ####ty and destroys the 'funstick', (that you talk about using yourself!), for me.

I have tried to ICly write a note to undo the damage you have caused but I doubt the Chancellor will give me an ounce of time when the patron Imm of the cabal has shafted me so. How can I, in character, tell the patron Imm of my cabal that she is sooo ####ing off base it isn't funny. Pretty ####ing hard to do!

FWIW I never understood why in CF you are expected to act like a cabal leader before you even get inducted. I didn't know crap about my job until I got it. I wouldn't expect an app to know anything about Scion if they were roleplaying correctly (it's supposed to be a secretive cabal - why are you expected to know their secrets to get inducted?).

While Scion is a secretive cabal, I don't think it's a stretch to assume that the basic philosophy is “common knowledge” to Therans.

Consider the fact that Scions are commonly observed walking around with Nightwalkers, for example. It's kind of hard to keep the big shadow beastie a secret.

There is also quite a bit of lore and literature scattered around Thera that makes vague references to Scion, or the things Scion is all about.

I agree that Scion can sometimes be a “secret handshake” cabal where the induction process is more about showing off your game knowledge and PK savvy than it is about genuine RP. It's a cabal that has been associated with and run by power-gamers and the like.

On a positive note, my interactions with the current Chancellor have been a poignant counter-example to what I described above, and has drastically changed my rather cynical view of the cabal in general.

IMHO, If you can't get into Scion right now, you're either trying too hard to appear like you belong (and deserve) to be in the cabal -or- you are on the wailing list.

With the exception of -maybe- Nexus, I would avoid raiding WITH people who frequently take YOUR would-be cabal's item if you want to get inducted into said cabal.

You goofed. It happens.

Unfortunately, killing one goodie as a Squired pledge, attacking in town once as a Tribunal pledge, etc. are all going to make the induction process take far longer than normal.

Unfortunately, given how selective Scion is, one hiccup is probably going to put you at the bottom of a long list of applicants for a short list of positions. Some extra RP and hours might have gotten you in, but again, you knocked yourself down to the bottom of an already hard to climb ladder, so deleting was probably the way to go.

Your character is not necessarily ruined because of this. Look at it as a golden chance to up your rp some, which is the real way to probably get into scion.

I don't think the chancellor can tell how many pk's you have, or if he really would even care, so really what he has to go by is what he knows and what he hears about you. And the best way to impress people is usually good rp, since many scions are hero level, they won't be running around with you watching you pk, so they can only rec you based on your interactions with them. Tinsa is probably no different, and while Mergulla can see everything, I don't recall her making a point of intentionally trying to ruin anyone's character. KEep you out of scion, maybe, as she saw something she did not like, but that does not mean you are forever barred. She's just informing the chancellor, and she may just as well be testing the chancellor on how he handles the information as she is testing you. You never know after all.

I imagine you can have some fun trying to work your way back in and finding an induction into scion. Just come up with some interesting angles and play them out. Most players treat this as a game, they know you invest time and play for fun, same as them. They'll take you in most likely, it will just take a bit longer now perhaps. Most players I've ever intereacted with appreciate decent rp, as that is really one of the driving forces behind why people play (that and some just love to pk the hell out of people, but really that's about person to person interaction as well, just a different sort). But if you get discouraged and rant at the slightest bump in the road, it just makes it that much harder for yourself and for the rest of us to separate the rant from what may very well be a good well rp'd character.

My scions never knowingly rank with any imperial. The day my most useful allies become bloodoaths is the day I stop travelling with them. Classic example being Kudaj. Great ally. Takes bloodoath. Cut links with him.

I'm pretty sad because I think I know who you are, and I enjoyed hanging out with you. In fact, I recce'd you. But you have to realise that scion is not about marriages of convenience, no matter how much it may seem that it is.

Yes it does.

As they already said, you went and helped retrieve the Codex. You are not a member of the Empire.

We have two possibilities before us:
a. You volunteered to get the Codex back. That would make you a voluntary bitch.
b. You were asked to help and you said yes. That would make you a responsive bitch.

Does it matter you wanted to level? Yes, it does, but not to a great enough degree to outweigh your actions. In a hypothetical case, would you help villagers in X case if it gave you Y exp? No, you wouldn't. It doesn't make a difference here that you wanted to level.

... but helping the healer retrieve an item of power that you NEVER want the empire to have... Well, I'm 100% with Mergulla on that. (Yes, even if it ####s up the little time you have for lvling, that's why some class/cabal/race/combos are so damned hard to level.)

To bad you didn't think of it beforehand though, but #### happens. Personally I try to roll with it ICly and it usually makes the game more fun and gives the chars role a little twist.

I was annoyed at the thought of the wasted character but will take the advice given and try and roll with it more ICly. I only posted to determine if it was an end of the road type affair or an IC smack upside the head. I am used to rager style ones of those that don't involve notes but involve pain instead.

Thanks to all and I hope I can report later of a positive result.

Note: I have no idea who you are, who your character is, anything at all. I'm simply going by what you wrote here.

Having said that... am I right when I take from your note that you went and helped an imperial healer go retrieve the codex from the fortress? As in, you are a scion or scion pledge, and you not only grouped with empire, but you actively went and helped an enemy cabal retrieve its item - an item you otherwise would have wanted in your own cabal, but definitely not at its imperial home - and now you are upset because you're being labeled an imperial bitch? Really?

Your character having hassles with marans does not in any way differentiate you from any other evil character in the game. Marans "hassle" every evil character. It has nothing at all to do with cabal politics. You're supposed to want to kill marans. That's entirely irrelevant as to whether you should be actively helping the empire recover the codex.

If I were a scion imm and saw you not just leveling with an imperial (which I have problems with but for the moment I'll ignore) but actually going and helping them retrieve the empire's codex, I'd smite and uninduct right then and there.

They are only an enemy because 'scion' betrayed them and empire takes the scepter. Previous scions I have played have been told by chancellors that the Empire is not strictly an enemy from the pov of scion until they declare war against scion by taking scepter, which they invariably do. Should this be known by a pledge? no. Do my actions fit my role, yes. has mergulla even read my role to see that it fits....likely not.

Seems I am in the wrong so there goes hours of solo ranking and spell spamming, including 90% conjure elemental.

There's no spell other than word of recall worth spamming as a conjie, imho.
