You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#38, "Savage rangers"

Hey, I posted a wish already (which was fulfilled, thanks Santa) but I had another idea...

How about giving savage rangers a hp boost like warriors and berserkers in the high levels? After all, they're supposed to be beefy dudes (and dudettes) relying on their bodies rather than their gear... don't make the boost as high as warrior/zerker but rather like +5 per level for the last ones?

I opted for a different path, raising their minimum hp gains per level.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

Hate to sound like a broken record, but should probably add this to the "savage" helpfile if you haven't already. Or if there's a general one that lists the advantages / disadvantages of each ranger specialization, there too.

Warrior/berserker hit points bonuses aren't in the helpfiles. Overall this is minimal impact in the grand scheme of the class.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

I guess. But the warrior bonus is pretty obvious once you hit those ranks; with this one, you'd just have a sneaking suspicion that your savage ranger's gains are a little better than you remember from other rangers.
