#3051, "few questions regarding invoker spell practice"

Within the last year, has there been a change so that you can't go somewhere safe and practice them up?

To be specific...does wind wall (and other area spells?) now need a mob or pc target to improve?

I can understand spending 3 hours or so on a spell at default affinity to get 1% when you are up in the 90's....heck, I expect that to happen.

What I don't expect to happen, is to spend multiple hours on wind wall, in an out-doors and wilderness room, at different times during 3 ranks, having perfected 3 other spells in between working on wind wall....

And to not have gotten ONE improvemnt. the spell is sitting at 75%. I've had default affinity invokers up to and past shields in the past...and my last hero invoker perfected wind wall in this same exact spot.

I have spend around 12 hours on wind wall, and it is 75%.

Is that right? I am not doing anything different than I did with my last invoker...

So I am asking is it even possible for the damned random number generator to produce 12 hours without one single improvement of a spell at 5 affinity?

Or has it changed, so that invokers can no-longer learn on area spells in general, or wind wall specifically, without targets?

If you spent 12 hours without an improvement you are doing something wrong.

but, considering I had a warlock hero invoker who perfected that same spell in that same room in less than 5 hours...doing the exact same thing....less than a year ago...

I was left with the conclusion that perhaps something was changed or broken, which was the point of my post, because I had believed that one of the main benefits of having heroed and perfected all spells in all 7 paths with an invoker....was having gone through the process of figuring out how was the best way...and the best places...and the best times...to work spells with a future invoker...so it wouldn't take 200+ hours to get to the fun part.....so I was curious to see if the way some invoker spells improved has changed...so I would know if I would have to go through the trial and error experiment period again.

But, Valg implied that neither of the conclusions I thought as possible explanations were the case, so I am flummoxed.

We're not really interested in spelling out the details of every case. For what it's worth, I'm not aware of changes that would effect invokers in a while.
