You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. #2765, "Weapon improvements on spin"

You can get spear or staff improvements from spin, I believe you can also get polearm improvements from distance (although I'm not sure), I don't think you can get sword improvements from flourintine but haven't played a sword spec since the changes. Anyhow, my actual comment, is it seems a little unfair how easy weapons can be mastered when they are going up from defensive spec skills.

1) Any warrior is probably going to master their specialized weapons in a fairly short time.

2) You can improve Sword through Flourintine. You can improve any weapon ability by using its associated specialization skills.

3) It's not exactly a high-probability event.

As an arial spear spec, I saw no benefit of ranking with a spear levels 1-19. Instead I ranked dual wielding swords, sword/dagger, or sword/shield. Never even picked up a spear until rank 20 when I specialized (level gains actually put it right at 80%). Spear was perfected prior to level 21. Staff I worked on a couple of levels later and was perfected equally as fast.

Were I to specialize in polearm, I'd probably do something similar.
