#2532, "invoker spell pre-requisites"

Currently, invoker spell pre-requisites are very much like assassin kick pre-requisites in character. Ok, there are differences: 100% mastery instead of 90%, and you've got affinities to help you get there, but the fundamental mechanism -- the rush of insight -- remains the same.

Here's another pre-requisite mechanism to think about: how much you understand a skill is capped by how well the pre-requisites are known. Perhaps the cap is exactly the same as the pre-requisites, or perhaps it's some multiplicative thing (100*(pct/100)*(pct/100)...).

This would have balance issues, because players who don't spam practice could get further. But, it might be a good way to reduce the need for spam practice for some class. Presumably, something else could be changed to keep things in balance.

Have you ever played an Invoker to a high level? Something above 30 at least. If you have a strong affinity in something then you'll have no problem learning spells and find you'll need to spam them less, if any. Of course, certain spells are going to take a minute or two longer for the simple fact that you don't always get to cast those as often as you'd like. (area spells for instance)

The only problem I've found with learning my spells as an Invoker is when your young and that's only becuase you rank so fast then and your next spells come more quickly. Other than that, I don't see a problem.

Hope this helps.

While you may see something like this for assassins in the future (things like this have been discussed by imms before), I doubt you'll see it for Invokers. We're happy with the way invokers are set up now.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
