You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#23416, "idea: takeback"

Give every thief one "takeback". Spending a "takeback" allows the thief to "unstudy" a thief skill and get those points back. He still loses whatever practices were spent on that skill.

This could be an edge, or it could just be a freebie since using it still "costs" you one or two practices. So there's a disincentive to people doing it just for the hell of it.

Ignoring the realism angle, the purpose would be to give thieves a chance to reconsider having studied a particular skill if it doesn't measure up to their expectations.

In order to prevent thieves from "loading up" on skills at low levels then dropping one later to free up points for something more useful at the high levels, make it so the "takeback" only becomes available at level 42 of 51.
