#21401, "Assassins berserkers - assassinate?"
|
Just throwing this out there, but for some reason I thought that rager assassin berserkers lost assassinate, but I recently noticed that this isn't true. Is that right? It seems with the RP of a berserker that assassinate doesn't really fit, and it's also insanely powerful given how many times people are dying to assassinate already. It seems like several lvl 35-40 assassins right now have very high assassinate percentages.
Anyway, just wondered what people's thoughts are on this.

They've never lost it, so... yeah.
It doesn't really bother me. It's not like deathblow or bloodthirst help you assassinate people. Scout is purely better for an assassinating assassin, and it doesn't bug me that an assassin that 'goes both ways' could be a berserker as easily as a scout or a defender.

Therefore assassins zerkers should at least lose assassinate. How is it honourable to kill someone who can't see you or fight back? How does it fit with the chaotic anger of the path that you can stalk someone you hate without losing your temper but suddenly go ape#### when you start fighting them...

I'm sorry, did you think Battle was supposed to be honorable?

The chaotic angry assassin berserker can choose to stalk once and say screw it, and attack. But I don't think the issue with assassination is honor. That's an age-old ploy. It's also dishonorable for thieves to backstab, and rangers to ambush. Shamans shouldn't rot, and APs cleave. Necromancers shouldn't sleep. Basically, if you can't bash an enemy down, they're being dishonorable.
But Battle bashes you down. Mwahaha. How's that for honor?
The one comment that I have is that in my experience, the battle berserker is really going to ream you after making the half-way assassination, but I don't think that's really unfair because the other paths give them as much or more firepower in different ways.

PS - Not disagreeing with you here, Daevryn

Especially by people who've been ganked by ragers.
COURAGE is the core of villager roleplay. And if deception and/or stalking get the job done, that's cool too. They're dirty, dirty barbarians but they're not dumb. Nor are they black-and-white rule wise.

A time when the only people able to compete with the powers were masters. The rules became part of what made the village unique so they stayed (and this is also part of why people expect defenders and scouts to follow them). As the game has changed though I think the parity rules are out dated and only serve to drive newer players away from playing berserkers (well at least prevents them from playing them long before con dieing).
