You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#2067, "Mana description"

Alright, gameplay I figured was the place to put an idea.. I was playing around, and since assassins have lost spells since way back when, perhaps coloring their mental measurements a bit.. For Eg.

Something like "You do not have enough chi to concentrate" instead of You do not have enough mana,

For warriors, im sure more ideas to put out, being non mage classes maybe just for more color to get into the play even more so, some new terms just for sakes of the class, any comments questions insults?

Early bird gets the worm, Second mouse gets the cheese!

All classes use Mana to 'concentrate' to do those tasks.

It would likely still be listed as mana in the prompt, and even if it were re-coded to list differently, and any relevant help files were altered to match the change, it would still function as the same basic thing in the mechanics of the game design.

So, just like I do with my non-spellcasters, if it seems odd to be using something that in the real world you'd think of as 'magical energy', just figure it's part of how this other world you're immersed in works. We can't do tells in the real world either, but we can suspend disbelief about how Thera works.
