A simple thing to help people get back on thier feet after a full loot, which is probably what most people put money in the bank for anyways. Just a few restrictions would keep it from eliminating the regearing aspect of the game, if that should be preserved at all(IMO, it shouldn't, but still...). It could be a really small, no bigger than a large sack perhaps. If it was really nessicary to keep people from keeping a set of gear in it, there could be a limit of no items greater than half of the character's lvl in the box. And of course, like most containers, no limited items aloud. With such restrictions, it would mainly be used to store food and water, and maybe some simple potions or some basic weapons, perfect for a start after a death/full loot.

I doubt it would be that hard to implement either. It could work something like you pay 100cp and the teller gives you the box. then it works just like a regular container, and you do 'deposit box' when you've got everything you need in it. Then to get it again, jut 'withdraw box'.

This has been brought up in the past and it's not something we feel has a place on CF. Probably, a search of the archives can dig up past threads on the topic if you're curious.

Keywords? I tried safe deposit box, safety deposit box, item storage, strongbox, and found nothing and I cant think of any other keywords to try.

Personally I've always liked this idea. Unfortunately no immortals do, as its been brought up before and promptly shot down. Some possible ways to restrict it (some of which you've already mentioned):

1. No limited items. (no brainer)
2. Cap the total size of items in the box. (like a sack)
3. Cap the total worth of items in the box. (use item value)
4. Cap the total number of items in the box. (like inventory)
5. Tie addition and removal fees to each item's worth.
6. Put a big timer on addition and/or removal. This would prevent people from storing stuff temporarily so they can try a risky sleep, assassinate, etc.
7. Have it be available only in Galadon. This addresses the balance issue DwE mentioned.
8. No potions, staves, wands, scrolls, or food. In other words no storing preps.

I know I'd be less likely to delete if I had a modest suit of non-limited gear waiting for me when I died. At the same time I don't think it would make me take any more risks than I usually would. Exchanging a set of nice gear for non-limited gear is still plenty incentive not to do stupid stuff.

9. limit on the size of any individual item
10. (much like 8) limit to certain item types (imagine: only treasures and trash)
11. horrible lag
12. thieves in your PK can break into it (with some risk from lag and/or tribunal)

I'm not sure I like the idea myself, though -- I've just recently figured out how to reoutfit my character decently after dying, and I'm kinda proud of that. Nothing super incredible or anything, but decent gear.

*shrug* I guess nobody would be forcing me to use the things.

Thought up another one. Limit the level of items that can be put in the box, so even "semi-useful" non-limited items would be off-limits.

You're talking about a bank + stores. The difficulty level of
going to the bank and then stores is not such that you can't
manage it by the time you unghost, regardless of what town you
live in.

100cp as a shortcut for a thought out regearing strategy is not
going to make anyone a better player. It also defeats the balance
of smaller hometowns being out of the way at the cost of fewer
amenities, as well as diluting the purpose of banks.

Adding to that particular fact.
I play alot of power-classes which can handle nearly anyone with or without clothing (at higher levels)

If I had this 'option' or 'opportunity' I'd immediately bank all of my gear, spell myself up, and go try to kick someones ass, I'd be naked so a full loot would be possible, and if I were to die, who cares, I lose 1/3rd con, no gear, no money loss.

So, in that regard I think it is a horrible idea, because if I'd do it, anyone else could easily or would easily do it.
You'd make people ALOT more daring because they'd be fighting enmasse naked or stripped down clothing, knowing they were not going to lose any actual gear out of the event.

And I'm sure it'd make hoarding my gear alot easier.

Apparently you missed the point of the limitations that were previously stated. If you can't put limited gear in storage, plus can't put anything in that's over half your current level, what's a hero going to hoard in the bank storage? At best some half decent armor and a weapon that any non-naked hero could easily get. Re-gearing is often a two or more stage process, getting a few low grade odds and ends to work your way into a better set of equipment from there. Do you expect someone to go naked and take a high quality weapon right away? It's not easy.

As for going and fighting naked because you know you won't lose anything, the only things you could avoid losing is easily gotten most of the time anyway. So why would you ever bother storing it and fighting without it?

Other than skipping the starting stage of re-gearing, as I believe I once said a while back, the only other real use for a storage system as proposed is to hide away keepsakes. Little low level items that for some reason signify a meaningful event or person, and are essentially trash to anyone else. Without a system like this one, I don't bother with keepsakes of any kind any more, since they always vanish away to PKs eventually. It would be nice to be able to reasonably have them again, not that anyone but me ever really cared about that sort of thing.
