#1846, "Striking the Shadow's Footfall"
|
Having recently chosen this legacy I was a little dissapointed (though not at all suprised) to find that it does not function at all when fighting NPC's. The reason I bring this here is that (to my admittedly limited) knowledge, it is the only legacy which does not function all the time. Granted there aren't a lot of NPC's out there who try and jack/sleep people, but if there was one, I expect that legacy would function as usual. Perhaps this was an oversight, or simply something that wasn't considered neccessary to add to the legacy, but I thought I'd bring it up and seek some feedback because I *really* wish it worked against NPCs.

Why not just make it limited versus NPC's? A weaker but still useful version? That which does not kill us, makes us stronger.

What countermeasures can a PC take to avoid this legacy? Not fight someone with it? Not fight for long enough for it to work? I don't consider either of these viable alternatives. The only foolproof method would be to quit out once you fought someone with it and log back in, which of course would be complete BS. I'm not trying to argue with it being changed, I realized before I posted that probably wasn't going to happen, but the appropriate countermeasures argument seems more than a little weak IMHO. Having something in the helpfile would be nice though (Even though it's working as I expected it would, I'm sure someone else thought otherwise).

get friends to help you take the character out, once he starts harrassing you.
Or, just kill that character, early on, and take everything.
(I don't know if stsf works across deaths, but even if it does it'll take a while to regear and come back at you.)
Or, if you're weak and solo, run far, far away (or, just stay hidden when that character is around if you have that ability -- which covers about half the mud (the other half being mostly warriors)). Warriors aren't all that great at tracking.
Basically, you handle this just like any other tough opponent.
