#1821, "Invokers - Collective paths (And even a subWarrior idea)"

So, I've had this idea kicking around in my head for some time, and I know some of you are going to say "Bah! Invokers are too powerful, blah blah blah, whine whine whine"

So, anyway, onto my "idea" as it were..

We have Affinitys now and for some time, and we've even had shared path spells which we get later on, such as air/fire to give us incendiary cloud, and the like.

My "idea" as it were, would be that if someone takes the gall to choose particular paths at say 10 in affinity.. that should they choose two particular powerful paths, that they'd be such "masters" of two (or so) respective elements that they gain the insight (after perfection of the elements) of a shared elemental power.
Examples include:

Aff 10 in Fire and Air, give you something like Vaccuum (a Quasi/Para-element) which lets you burn off the oxygen for a room (indoors only) which causes asphyxiation on anyone not shielded from air in the particular room.

Aff 10 in Fire and Earth, give you Magma, having some unknown particular affect, even to create some kind of magma stream blocking passage for people who enter a room, with them taking damage should they walk through.

Aff 10 in Fire and Water, some kind of Steam related thing (another Quasi/Para-element) with various effects.

And the list goes on.. for people who do dedicate their focus on particular elements (two I'd say) should atleast get some kind of special focus of it, to make them stand out from the other invokers.

And a similar idea I had with regard to warriors would be a shared spec combo... at a high rank, after you complete mastery of both of your weapons and specs, you'd have the ability to have some kind of shared power among the two specs (it'd open the doors for really obscure specs perhaps) such as the ability to use one weapon and then exploit your other spec at the same time perhaps.

No specific ideas/examples, just a concept I've been brewing around.
Every since weapon specs were first introduced, I'd always wanted to see further ways to encourage sharing dissimilar specs..
Because all we need in the world is another Arial sword spec, they are certainly in low circulation *grin*.

Definite drives for Invokers and also for Warriors to have some kind of mutual "Bonding" of the exclusiveness of things.

We certainly see it enough in Thieves, who if they choose utmost mastery of a particular path, they learn things others cannot.

instead of some super spells once you master some ####, how about the following.

you can pick from these abilities once you reach say, lev 30.

ability to cash touches in combat.
ability to charge a weapon with heat/cold/acid along with shock.
permanent 15% (or more) immunity to the various elements you've picked, without shields up.
two touch attacks a round, second will only be half dam.
ability to make touches unblockable.

i had some more but i forgot the ####.

Just some comments :
1. What about those with spear/staff/polearms specs? How do you balance those?
2. There is already a legacy with =using both specialized weapons in both your hands.
3. Warriors have 2 legacies in mid-40s onwards. Coupled with the two specializations, a hero warrior can be quite different from another with the same specializations.

Ah, so brings the joy of a cross-specialization.

Warrior x wielding a staff in combat, he also is a master of the dagger. Using his enhanced skill of both, he for a particular
battle, holds two daggers in the same hands holding the staff, for a
cross-push dagger pugil. Something to that degree.. the "speciality" behind finding mastery in -all- of their abilitys of their specs opens the door for particular mastery and artistry in combat to improvise doing things others may not normally do or know to happen.
I know whenever I would be sword fighting, whether single or dual wield, I always open the door for other weapons into my battles. (I refer to my actual sword fighting, entirely an OOC thing)
So, with mastery of weapons, comes understanding of ways to utilize them both for an upper hand.

Yes, but again this covers more than just knowing your same abilitys.. opens future doors.

Anybody can power rank to hero to try out each legacy, its very easy, anybody in a short time would know all there is to know.. this isn't for your average power ranker.. its for the longterm warriors dedicated to their abilitys.

Ever finish perfecting all of your abilitys, to find out thats it? you get bored, this would atleast give an extra glint of hope into their little futures, and it certainly drives warriors to improve themselves on the whole.

Warriors already have a large degree of individuality. Two specializations, two Legacies, and the way different races play out. I think a number of other classes are higher on the priority list.

True, was just an idea which spun off in my mind while thinking about Invokers is all.
