Why do stray animals attack sleeping people in Galadon? It doesn't make sense.

It makes perfect sense.

What's more, rats are known to gnaw on people in their sleep.

Cats, now. that's different. Cats are too cool to bite sleeping folks, they prefer to smother warm babies.

I looks like they are starving to death, and a sleeping person probably looks harmless and like a possible meal.
