You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

What I'd really like to see is splitting sword specialization into two groups. Then I could actually play a Conan char, haw. Two hand, and the more refined one which we have now.

And another.. Allow people who have perfected a skill/spell to teach 'practice' other people of the same guild. The cost I guess could be slightly higher, and the 'teachers' would have to be like lev 40+, or limited somehow.

1) This would largely duplicate the paladin two-hander dedication, which we have stated elsewhere we are not interested in doing. (Ditto for warriors specializing in a shield.)

2) The second idea also came up on this forum about a month back. The problem with it is OOC collusion, which makes it hard to make the ability very good without making it something we have to police.

Another problem is that knowing how to do something well isn't the same as knowing how to teach it well. The easiest example of this is professional athletics- a lot of the best coaches never came close to playing professionally. Some did, and they have ranged from the best to the worst. (Magic Johnson, anyone?)
