You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#20, "Expanding on the quasi/para-element paths for invokers"
Edited on Sat 24-Nov-07 07:29 PM

Invokers have access to the other para-elements with their spells. That way, there's no way to have "all" paths, unless you use your edge points constantly with Extra Affinity. I know invokers aren't on the short or long list for improvements, but still think it's strange that they can access a quasi element yet not all paras. I dunno.

From how it sounded to me:
1. Invokers can use quasi-elemental magic, which is a step higher than paraelemental, while only ice and ooze are in the paraelemental paths that an invoker can learn.
2. Add magma and smoke, so that Invokers have more paths to choose from but not enough points to toss five into everything, so that invokers have more options for variety, like "I wonder if that invoker can use a fireshield or a magma shield...hrmmmm." Leaves the other guy guessing until they actually fight.

Anyway, that's basically how I read it *shrugs*

Sorry that I wasn't clearer. Might have been tired.
