You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#792, "My one and only suggestion this year: Official Item Database"

Create an official, search-able item database that contains the vast majority of items available in CF and their stats along with their area of origin.

I know this will probably be circular filed, but I would suggest that All non-limited armor and weapons + All sold magical items + All limited non-magical items would be a good start. Excluding those items from explore areas of course. Knowing how to gear is a huge advantage to vets, and knows where to actually get the gear makes it even worse. This would solve at least half of that and is a commonly available thing in other games from my understanding (MMO's mostly).

I have no intention of creating anything like this. I think it completely negates one aspect of the game (exploration), and pushes the game more towards Halo/Quake/FPS.

I read this as "please just tell me where the hell to get preps, I don't want to have to actually look for them!".

Here is where the thoughts come in. Where I think there is something reasonable is a list of "I just died and need to re-gear quickly" list. Think ice worm gear, sandy brown cloaks, skull rings, charred bracers, etc. As you will see shortly, we're going to have a wiki and something like that I'd be fine with.

Being different than MMO's isn't a bad thing. This is not World of Warcraft.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
