#520, "Tsunami and Earthquake"
|
Also, since I just wrote up the druid one...I thought I posted this a while ago, but must not have. I think earthquake might be a "little" lacking, and tsunami very much so.
If I'm correct, three classes have both of these abilities - shaman, invoker, and druid. In almost every case I can think of, these classes have a more damaging single-target spell. Tsunami is only usable in three specific room-types (on and underwater, and swamps), and in the majority of those rooms, NPCs there are immune to drowning attacks anyways. As for PC fights...it's damage-only, and I don't know that I've ever seen it even do *** DEMOLISH *** damage.
Similarly, in the case of earthquake...it's usable in the majority of the world, it *DOES* do respectable damage, but is easily avoided by one of what's often considered a "standard" prep these days.
Now, as far as the pros...well, I would probably consider them useless for invokers at higher levels, but they are the other two's only really reasonable area-attacks in most cases, but I still can't see that I'd ever really use them in most situations.
As far as what I was thinking for improvement...I was wondering if you might consider giving any sort of utility aspect to either of them, or in the case of tsunami perhaps a strict upping of damage, or if there are any merits to any physical damage to the spell. Getting hit by a wave does hurt, though I see the idea behind it being pure drowning damage in a fantasy setting.

You did.

And yet there are sooo many people who run around with out it.

I'm not really interested in making every spell an invoker has a choice to use at hero. They are one of the more varied classes as is.

You're asking for utility and suggesting nothing. I'll be honest, if you're not going to make the effort, I'm not. That said, I don't think earthquake needs anything other than it already has. So long, and thanks for all the fish!
