#39, "Repost: I find this religion distasteful."
|
I'm not sure if it got deleted when you restructured threads or if it was deleted purposefully, but if the latter was the case, I'll not bother posting it again. I don't think I'm the kind of overly sensitive type that will claim anything and everything as offensive, but the idea of a religion based on the tenants outlined above being classified as "good" in the CF universe is something I find in very poor taste.
This is magnified by the obvious Islamic influences regarding the naming of yourself. I (usually) wish nothing but the best for new Immortals and their burgeoning faiths, but I really hope that this religion is either reclassified as neutral or evil, or that it disappears entirely.
You cannot have an Immortal who seeks to eliminate or rule over all other Immortals (goodly or otherwise) in a world with a moral code such as CF, and consider them to be righteous and goodly themselves. The fact that this goal is "down the road" and/or not a high priority compared to destroying evil doesn't change the fact that this religion is in it's essence ungood.

This is definitely a viable RP stance to take, by the way. That is, roleplaying a Goodie who thinks that Muhadin's followers are too extreme. Always like to see conflicting Goodies. Splntrd

Why? These are two unsupported absolute declarations. One of the tennets is that it's a sin to harm one of the Light: that seems to fit within the moral code (as you see it) of CF.
Why is Muhadin/the religion NOT righteous and goodly? Why is it 'in it's essence ungood'?
The goal is complete erradication of evil: that's the main drive. Provisions are made as to how to deal with other goods getting in your way. As I said, it's a sin to harm another lightwalker. Just because the god doesn't want to play nice in the pantheon, so to speak, why isn't that good? He is directing his and his followers efforts toward a greater good, toward their vision of "how things should be". Don't most of the rest of the gods do that, too? They're just not quite as explicit and hardcore about it. He doesn't say "kill the nonbelieving goods", but just alludes that something is going to have to be done about them and their gods. It makes sense, and it's hardly Imperial-style "convert or die".

Your opinion, sir, is in violation of “Extreme Poor Taste”. You have to realize that this is a RP mud. If you have forgotten RP = Role Play. If you can’t do it, go find another.
Did you play when Maran was a religion not a cabal? Shokai, Grurk, Scarab, and few other immortals had different tenants. I didn’t hear you bitching about that. (Sorry for my crude language)
If the religion such a poor taste, no one will follow him and he will run into extinction. Why are you bothering your head?
I had a whole post written out but I do not want to argue with you on such irrelevant subject. When I first saw this religion, I laughed by behind off. I wish Good Luck to Muhadin and his followers. It’s a tough road. Few immortals have done it in the past, you can too. ______________________________________ Come to the Darkside...We got cookies

So is your question is am I the goodness in Eshval?
Basically, I don't like anyone, mortal or immortal, demon or saint if they do not follow me. I tolerate the other 'goods', but they do not have my same worldview, which makes them rivals for the end result. Generally, Muhadin views others as inept, among other things.
Eshval doesn't give a rat's backside about other religions one way or another, they are all playthings, as are mortals and the world in general. muhadin@carrionfields.com

No, his question was whether or not Muhadin and Eshval are played by the same player.

The tolerating other goods part is important, as it's a requirement for Muhadin's religion actually being good. People weren't sure if Muhadin filled this requirement, so they labeled the religion as evil or neutral.
