I'd like to know how exactly you guys view 'goodness.' I always thought it could kind of be open to interpretation, but after reading that failed empowerment log below, it kind of proved otherwise.
So how do you guys view it? What about goodie Villagers forced to kill good mages, etc. How would you play such a combo and not get slapped with an align change? There's always the fact that magic is the "greater evil" or some such, but how do you see this kind of thing being played out?

This is me wearing my coder hat:
If you want a Baer tattoo, you probably want to come up with a role where you never plan to kill other good characters. Otherwise, no matter what you can rationalize or defend logically, it will almost certainly do you more harm than good.

If I were to play a good align in battle, I would RP along the lines of that "greater evil" idea to the extent of wishing other goodie mages to cease their use of magic and other "tainted" ways. Now, of course they're probably not going to, but they probably don't really want to fight me either since we both have good, if misplaced, intentions.
When it comes to bloodshed and say you kill another goodie, then I would pray for forgiveness and such. As far as inner cabal interactions go, I wouldn't group or directly aid evils unless rare rare occasions called for it during raid/retrieval situations.. but even then I would still attempt to keep my distance.

On "goodness", I would say that this can be open for interpretation, especially considering the above explanations. Even to the extreme, you could BE evil and still roleplay that you are good (obviously you must realize you are misguided, but that would be the driving force).
The issues with the failed empowerment log though... just the wrong slants, especially considering the background of Baerinika and her association with the Fortress. Taking a no-consequence approach to exterminating is too much like a scarab... it borders on that above idea for an evil "thinking" he is acting upon the greater good. So what Baerinika was trying to accomplish was a way for the shaman to define the virtues that qualify (for lack of a better word) for being pure. Investing in these virtues and also fighting for these virtues....
In closing, I may be off base here as this is my own opinion and point of view. For better or for worse.
