To what extent is a non-empoweree off-sphere follower expected to make discrete and theoretically achievable goals that in practice the player cannot accomplish. How does Daevryn feel about these theoretically attainable goals that just haven't been achieved yet (but in practice never will be achieved and the player knows it).
My understanding is that you can make a character that isn't PK focused, and succeed in some other way (e.g. wealthy thief), but the question I'm trying to get at is: If PKing is naturally a significant part of your character's role, does that imply that you have to be successful at killing your toughest opponents in order to not be ignored/cast out or whatever Daevryn does with failures?
Some examples:
If you are a scion there's an argument to be made that you should make it a goal to kill the emperor. Now suppose you're a shapeshifter and a mediocre player and the emperor is a skilled lich. Would it be worse in Daevryn's eyes to not make it a goal to kill a character you really should have a goal to kill, or to consistently fail at that goal? Are you just screwed either way in terms of tattooing in this situation?
Could you play a criminal-catching Tribunal and not make it a goal to catch the most criminals of any other Tribunal, knowing that there's Cabdru the vindicator already there?
If there are two daevryn followers in Empire who should want to be emperor, can they both have a tattoo, or does only the emperor get the pat on the back?
Thanks
