Well, after that little fiasco with Cyradia, I grew fed up with this. Trying to research something I hadn't heard about for gods from like two weeks was getting on my nerves, not to mention the fact that I was getting fed up with being a leader character already. It's ridiculous, trying to do a plotline when you get no feedback for about two weeks from people, then have a god curse you for a completely reasonable request. At any rate, this is somewhat refreshing, given that the Scion Cabal now has four new Chancellor spots open.

Maybe I wasn't evil enough, trying to roleplay a dark scholar of the night, but eventually, I got sick of it and threw in the towel. A lot of people don't realize that being a leader character is much like a heroimm - a job where you're expected to keep the Cabal in line. However, it's not much fun when you're searching for in-game answers to an OOC problem - that there's five cabals fighting you, etc. I tried to make a pact with the Sylvans consistently, but was rebuffed by them.

It seems like you're not really rewarded for roleplay, even - though I got a leader position and stuff, it drained on me dying again and again to unkillable conjurers with transplendant archons and invoker shields.

I think now that I've deleted, I'm going to enjoy my summer away from this. Too much sunlight outside and staying inside with a computer - there's no logic in that, really. I might as well be cheating myself out of the best three months in my life if I don't get out.

Scion:

A lot of you were really good. Jacynth and Valguarnera, you do a lot for the Cabal and a whole lot for the game. I don't really know what else to say, other than that it grew very stressful watching the plotline Valguarnera had arranged fall to pieces. I got sick of waiting, honestly, and my character suffered for it.
Notables included Lokilith, Tikar, Ralemos, Bynote, and Aeligrah.
Astirath, you were a bastard, but well done nonetheless. Cuvatar, you were a huge presence in Scion. Well done and it's sad that the elixir didn't go the way you wanted.
Khaelben, you never showed. A regret.

Battle:

Again, an impressive cabal, with the exception of Armand, who I got very annoyed with when he seemed to be the Fortress' bitch. Maybe you are, maybe you're not. Intronan and Kraern interested me quite a bit, as well as Destial, with the talks we had.

Sylvan:

Saldradien, you'll make a good leader. Paelnor, your logs made me not respect you and give you enough of a chance, even though we didn't interact.

Fortress:

Most of you didn't really stand out. Your conjurers are hypocrites, though, supposedly using good magic, but they conjure gaunts to come and kill me in cursed areas. Seriously, the only times I was beaten by you involved a nightgaunt, or an unkillable transplendant. With Scion's lack of conjurers, it helped you guys.

On a side note, the way the Fortress is set up sucks. I tried to change that in-game, but wasn't too lucky.

Scarab:

Scarabaeus, you're great. I wouldn't expect anything less of you.
Qxorlarran, much better than Manshoon, a damn sight better actually from what I saw of you.
Khernan, you're a scary guy.
Drucyrus, I didn't get to interact with you enough. A regret.
Cyradia, I expected more, but probably shouldn't have. Being evil is not the same as being a bitch.

Tribunal: I didn't interact with any of you.

Entropy: Nazgauga and Nedrio stood out, other than that, I didn't know you.

Troupers: Wanted to get to know you, but didn't really have time within the 200+ hours I played to do that.

Dakizar: our talk when you were young was a lot of fun. I hope you got the same impression of it.

At any rate, I might be back. I don't know what I'll be doing in the future, but I'll probably play something not good if I do play, unless the Fortress has been toned down.

Thanks for the time I did have as Gaenlin, immortals and players. You all make the game the way it is.

Firstly, the log you spoke of (one log, only) was a LONG time ago, it had some sort of cause, and I made the mistake of posting before the char went away. *shrug* I've changed alot and so has my character since, but I guess we can all hold a year-old grudge.
As for you...I never talked to you, nor did anyone in sylvan ever mention your trying to get a pact going(?). Unless you were the one that tried to talk to Plyate about it and conjured up a nightwalker and angered him. Anyhow, I always wondered why you wouldn't come to the defense of your cabal, or better yet, raid. Maybe I missed it, maybe I you just didn't want the chance to interact with me at all. *shrug* Get out there, it's nice out, this game is for winter boredom and addicts from that, or something. Have a great summer, come back in some form and be more active when_you_can , people did start to talk, and just enjoy yourself. Who knows, maybe in a few years you can drop some oddball grudge against me, maybe not..

Leader characters do tend to get boring, and I have always been from the school that its better to step down/delete than it is to be an absentee leader and making all the other players suffer. Kudos frow swallowing the bitter pill, you are a better man for it. Nice RP btw, I had fun interacting with you, right from the word "Go." Back when I was a lvl 16 necro.

1) I'll begin by saying that Gaenlin was one of the best roleplayed Scions yet. He had a past, a present, and a future, and a distinctive style (perhaps too reminiscent of Maymunah, but I digress). Unfortunately, Chancellor Gaenlin turned out very different from Regular Gaenlin. You are correct in saying that as a cabal leader, you're expected to keep the cabal in line. You had help (3 immortals, 2 other Chancellors, many magi who could induct non-magi), but it is a big cabal, and when you take the leader job, you're signing up for some of that. You clearly got frustrated with the demands of Chancellorship very early on. Some people enjoy the leader roles (Plyate comes to mind.... I did as well.), and some do not. I don't get the feeling you do. This is fine, and something to keep in mind for future characters.

2) The quest you are talking about, which I won't go into detail on, does not require any direct immortal intervention until several "steps" down the line from where anyone is. We're aware of the problem of needing time overlap with players, and I try to design things in this fashion. (Which is why it took a little time for you to get a "kickoff" note.) "Hardware"-wise, we have some new tricks up our sleeve in the quest department. The fact that it is incomplete has nothing to do with the presence or absence of any Immortals. It is intentionally difficult, however.

3) You claim "It seems like you're not really rewarded for roleplay, even." You had a leader position, a special spell that comes with it, and a quest crafted around an idea you had. You have 4 Lyceum-style permanent enshirements in the Chasm. Unbeknownst to you, you had a quest form which passed the specifications stage (as in approved, and waiting for coding). You were given as much freedom as is conceivable for a mortal leader of a cabal. I'm not sure what else you were looking for. I'm having car trouble, and driving over to wherever you live with a fruit basket and a big hug isn't feasible right now.

I have to echo what Valg said. Your character by itself and your character as Chancellor were two different individuals. Jacynth tried to point this out a couple of times without saying so directly, but I didn't ever see that you got the hint.

I did enjoy the depth of your character and the way you pursued things. I'm only sorry that you didn't 'see' the fruits of your labor. It's disappointing to hear that you didn't think you had many 'rewards'. To me, the greatest reward of being a leader was the plethora of interactions that were opened up to me, but then again, I'm just that way. At least I enjoyed the interactions. *wink*

I'm sorry if that's how you see things. I was tempted not to respond, since your remarks were purely inflammatory and didn't seem to actually request a response. However, since I wasn't the first god whose toes you stomped on...I figure I'll give you my words of advice wanted or not.

The gods have roles too. I'll be vague out of respect for your character's goals/role, but I think it's fair you came to me asking for X because of Y. Now then, the Y you chose was a very poor choice. I can think of about 4 or 5 things that would have been much better choices. However, I simply told you to shut up about Y and let it roll away. I had actually typed in the beginning of X when I saw the emote about pulling the book from your robes. I deleted the line before hitting enter and was sitting in front of my computer shaking my head. Sure enough, you started to argue with me, about my religion. The line/text choice you used was, quite possibly, one of the worst things you could have said to Cyradia in character. I gave you a bigger, more brightly colored warning...you still wanted to argue with me.

Gods have roles just like mortals. I'm not going to sit down and have a verbal debate with you about the philosophy of my religion in the situation you set up. You came to me...you asked into an evil and chaotic demon goddess kitchen...don't be so surprised at the heat. Not to mention, the Scarab wasn't the only curse in that title, now was it? That'd be two very similar mistakes in a row...I was only the latter.

I apologize for my earlier remark, but I don't really think I was totally out of my bounds in saying it, as you yourself decided to be especially harsh onto me. Now, you can say "Oh, I'm an evil demon goddess from hell" and justify that, but the simple thing of it was, I was trying to solve that quest. You only aggravated my frustration more by being the way you were, and I don't know that you were completely fair in doing that.

Shame you're gone. One of the few Scions I'll actually miss. As to the comment you made about me in the game, I as a player took it as you meant. Kraern the giant......well, that's not what he's really going to care to hear. Was fun, and I hope to see you back sometime.

Well, gotta say that when you became High Chancellor, I was thrilled. Considering the void that happened before you became chancellor. (ie. Tikar, Lokilith, and the rest of the crew up and deleting). Then, noticed the lack of appearances (not that I'm a great example of that but hopefully that will be remedied in a few weeks).

I fully understand from an ooc, perspective that RL ##### happens and sometimes you can't commit the time necessary to be a leader character. Hope things work out okay for you in the near future.

Respected your character though we did not interact a lot. Then again, don't interact too much in Scions with only a few people. Good luck on your next character and at least you had an opportunity to see what a leader character entails. I can only imagine what it is like.
