No internet service for months. All my characters died off.
Yakarlaeg was first intended as a simple-rolled "get my tribby fix" while I waited for Morihyama to catch up with his imm...
He quickly developed into an equal partner with Morihyama for my playtime...and I had plans on age dieing both characters.
It was so fun to step into his character...so utterly foreign to Morihyama's "friends with everyone" personality. I tried to be so utterly DWARF, that people would be able to tell what I was without actually seeing who I was.
I had developed huge religious plans with this character...which I still wish I could accomplish...as they were designed to be extremely long-term....
And my desire to still be this character (and morihyama, too) is really putting a damper on my ability to roll anything else.
I do think, ooc, that Yakarlaeg's in character religious goals NEED to happen...someone needs to do it. But I'm pretty sure sure I can not design a unique character with different build and back story and everything...and pick up where I left off.

Yakarlaeg Gravelface
desc + This young male is either a Dwarf, or a shapeless tanned leather sack desc + straining to contain a full load of rough ore that was given legs and desc + told to move. desc + desc + He has a thin pelt of long, dark red hair covering every square inch of desc + exposed flesh except around his eyes and ruddy cheeks. Thin enough to desc + provide no cover or concealment to the webwork of deep callous cracks desc + that are packed with what may be generations of ground in soil that desc + covers his hands, forearms, neck, and cheeks. desc + desc + Hands that seem comically large for his frame, made up of knuckles the desc + size of boulders, grip the implements of his trade with a perceptible desc + tenacity, sending ripples of tension up the tightly corded muscle of his desc + forearms. desc + desc + His bright eyes are pale-yellow on a dirty, light brown sclera. They desc + almost seem to flash in the intensity of his gaze. desc + desc + Other than earth, sweat, and blood...the strongest oder that seems to desc + waft around this creature is that of old, nearly vinegarized, ale.
role subject Simple story, simple man. role + role + Yakarlaeg Gravelface. A very respected name of a very respected family. role + A family respected for eons of humble service. True dirt grubbers among role + a race of diggers. Not the people who dig, or plan, or fight.... But the role + family that has harvested mushrooms since time without count. role + role + Or...that's what Yarkarlaeg, and all of his ancestors for uncounted role + years, has thought. role + role + Until, their little hovel was moved to make room for a blacksmith. role + role + Under the only well-shaped stone in their hovel, under their fireplace, role + lay a magically preserved tome. A Diary. role + role + A Diary...of a Gravelface who feared he would be the last Gravelface... role + A diary....of a Dwarven invoker...who spent hundreds of years as a role + Master of Magic...as had all of his own ancestors. role + role + A diary that outlined the loss of magic from all Dwarves, the fear of role + Dwarves losing this power...this power that shaped the very world... role + role + Much of the diary was a waxing poetic on this Invoker's views of why... role + role + This invoker, thought that his own beloved race was losing magic because role + it had started down the path of abandoning the Light. role + role + This invoker, then was convinced, his beloved Masters of Magic...they role + too, would one day fail and fade from Thera...because they not only had role + given up the Light in order to make treat with demons in their fight with role + the followers of Boltthrower.... role + role + But even worse, in his eyes...the Mages of Order had given up Order role + itself! role + They had abandoned that which serves as the defining role + characteristic of true magic that can shape and guide a world...Order. role + role + And this ancestor, writing ages before the actual fall of the Masters of role + Magic, predicted their fall. role +
role subject Yakarlaeg's investigations, Raison D'etre. role + role + This was a bomb on Yakarlaeg's mind...the bone deep sadness at the lost role + glory of his blood. He set out into the world to find the truth of what role + was explained in the diary. role + He found the truth. And...the absolutely worst thing in all of the role + the history of Thera has actually occcured. role + role + The Barons of Chaos. The Children of the Mages of Chaos, the ancient role + enemies of all life, light, and order...have taken up residence in the role + home and seat of the power of the children of the Mages of Order! role + role + This. role + Can. role + Not. role + Be. role + Borne. role + role + That's it. All those chaos bastards gotta die. role +
role subject How to do this? Religion. role + role + Yakarlaeg, despite the knowledge of his ancient ancestry being powerful role + magi...has no facility with magic. His blood offers him no strength of role + arms. No familial power of burning blood and warfare. He is in his soul role + what eons of time have forged him...a mushroom farmer. role + role + So, he knows it is not his own strength that can murder those damned role + bastards and cleanse all of Thera of their blasphemy of corrupting role + the ancient seat of the Magic of Order that created the very world. role + role + It was his deep respect, love and hyper reverence of his family's new- role + found diary of their ancestor, that led him in the right direction. role + role + It was a lack of knowledge that led his family to sit idle in the face role + of the same Chaos their revered ancestor hated taking hold in Thera. role + It was a lack of knowledge that hobbled his family. role + role + It was a lack of historical context, that led all of Thera to allow first role + the Outlanders, then the rat whores the Barons of Chaos to form! role + Unacceptable. role + role + There is a Lord of Knowledge. A Lord that seems to enjoy Order. A Lord role + that may help him move forward in his life... role + role + This Lord, may give him the means to live the rest of his life, learning role + how to stand and face the forces of those damned whoresons. role + role + Learn how to inspire others to stand up to them. Learn how to preach role + against them. Learn how to bathe in their rotten, foul, duergar-souled role + blood. role + role + And, at the end of his life, pen his own diary, filled with the warnings role + and methods against those Lloth's-snot fargers...so that such role + knowledge is never again lost. role +
role subject Personality errata. role + role + Yakarlaeg is a Dwarf. There is a phrase one frustrated elf merchant used role + as a curse and a derogatory statement when trading with the blacksmith role + that Yakarlaeg overheard as a child. He loved it. He lives it. role + role + "Sometimes right. Sometimes wrong. Never, ever, ever, in doubt." role + Nope. role + role + He's right. Period. If he wasn't right, he'd think something else. role + Sure...things might change, and he might learn he is now wrong, but then role + he'll change his mind and be right again. But if he's right, he has role + zero doubt. role + role + He also has zero doubt....that he has the soul of a musician and poet. role + role + Except... He can not hear any difference in tone. And he doesn't have role + the widest repertoire of words....thus...he is wont to make poems role + that almost rhyme...and almost make sense. role + role + And he has a tendency to hum, whistle, and sing popular tunes, always role + expecting all hearers to catch the tune and join in with the lyrics..... role + role + Except, He may have only ever sung/hummed/whistled one gravely, gritty role + note his entire life. role + role + And it doesn't help that he has no sense of time or rhythm.

Thank you for being a great example in the Spire.
Without internet, I don't know what happened with anyone who was alive when I was, so I don't know how you turned out. But I fully expected you to take over when Llyon finally kicked the bucket...and probably get the spire into some trouble.
Your inductions were, for this long-time law-cabal character, the greatest example in my mind of what an Order cabal induction should be.
That type of thing never occurred to me! I loved it.

I absolutely loved your longevity. You were a large part, ooc, of me deciding I would attempt an age-death character.
You were completely different than Toharun in your Tribbiness...and I loved how the spire had room for both of you.
Like I said, I don't know how anyone who was around when I was happened after I lost internet, but I hope you were given a huge send-off....
Legend.

I had no idea what to expect from your religion.
It is fascinating that it seemed like your religion was shaped exactly for what I hoped to accomplish with this character.
I had the idea for that long research thing as I came up with this character Idea. I thought it would be for the Lyceum...I had no clue you would be able to fit it into your religion so well!
Thanks for pushing me to more clearly express my plan with this character. One of my favorite imm interactions I've had since the old days of Master.
I am deeply regretful of not being able to follow through with my promise due to ooc things. I fear I will regret that for years. I was *REALLY* looking forward to doing all the things that I had specified in my "concept" scroll, it was going to be hundreds of hours of fun!
Thank you so much for the shaman path you gave me. I admit, it was the "pie in the sky" path I had hoped for...and not being able to really take advantage of it in pk situations at hero is a huge regret of mine. I had not expected such a cool gift until I hero'd, so getting it so early was awesome.

Thank you for being the utter and complete prototype of the elf that a dwarf just can not stand.
I had looked forward to a long, acrimonious, conflict between us. Of course, I could not keep up with your leveling, I've never been a fast leveler, except when I play storm pole pallies.
Part of me, ooc, was sorry for you that it might have seemed like I was tryign to use ooc stuff to ruin your character, by publishing a note that accused you...a perported lightwalker...of training all your skills on neutral pacifist mobs.
But it was all Ic. ooc,I get the need to spam skills for warriors, ragers especially...elf dagger specs MOST especially.
Ic, my Dwarf lightwalking shaman had nothing but contempt for you claiming to be a great warrior after slaughtering probably hundreds of neutral pacifists.
(I had many characters, empire, outlander, barons, even of the fortress, send me tells in character thanking me for the poem I published about you, because they noticed similar behavior from you)
I'm glad my ic beef didn't really effect your character arc, as you did get drillmaster...so I guess either the village imms didn't care, or you had a good ic explanation.
You did give my character a chance to start his poetry career....which was going to be designed to be utterly and completely horrible....
Note subject Ethlerrereva Tha liar. note + note + An ode to Ethlerrereva, tha Scourge of peace, Murderer of Pacifists. note + note + There once were a elf, name of Eth. note + She stunk like a dugar's ass. note + note + She spent a year in a monestary in tha cloud learnin, note + yar think there's some knowledge she be earnin. note + note + But nah, this Lloth-snot ain be studyin books er philos, note + this little flower-sniffer be molestin tha peaceful bros. note + note + Hours an hours, this one did practice, note + pokin at monks be sworn ta peace. note + note + It's great ta learn tha the Village counts that as strong note + callin best warriors of Thera those that doan belong note + (in tha company o tha Light) note + note + Then, when confronted with tha truth, note + what did this rat-farger, from her mouth did spew? note + note + Lies. Denial, straight fat chaos. note + There's no truth in this'n, this Slug-souled Hoss. note + note + So, by all nine hellish whores what spewed outa tha Scarab's left Teat, note + take mah advice about this mass-murder a pacificsts...it's mah treat... note + note + Doan none of ya give yer ear to the crap she sellin! note + note + note + From tha pen a Gravelface. note + Amateur poet.

The majority of my playtime on this character, I played on my small s7 edge cell phone (even at home, on wifi)
If I seemed slow to respond, or slow with my emotes, Or really slow in pk, it was because playing with a touch screen is hard!
I was looking forward to being able to pk at hero from a phone.
