I'm curious if you would briefly explain the role & motivation that got you empowered by Jacynth?
I've always felt Jacynth's religion was a live for the moment, and don't waste your time on self sacrifice or hope kind of thing. My interpretation of the Paladin code has always been the opposite - death before dishonor, sacrifice yourself for the greater good, that kind of thing (probably why I always con die).
Or was this more a sphere vs. religion thing?

I'll venture an answer on this one. Ilanaguarath never did prove to my satisfaction that he followed my spheres or my religion. In the end, he was unempowered by me because of this. I have a hard time figuring out myself how anyone can justify the 'duties' of a paladin and my religion or even my spheres. Why did Jacynth empower him originally then? Because he had promise that in Jacynth's eyes was never fulfilled. Maybe someone else can come up with a better justification, but I haven't seen it yet.

Just to clarify, I don't expect my empowerees to follow my religion, but Ilanagurath's sphere was passion and like I mentioned before, I never could get a good justification between his sphere and him being a paladin. It is why things happened as they did in the end. That's not to say it can't be done, but it didn't this time.

Damn, since our playing times seem to overlap a lot, I was trying to get a leg up on how to rp a sphere passion knight, guess I'll have to work something out on my own.

I don't take you reason at all, jacynth. At first I thought I knew what your passion sphere was about and could be hell of fun playing a paladin like that. After our first chat I was not that sure, and Jazur confused me even more. I tried to figure it out what you wanted from me for a time, but after a while, I went to the 'do-what-you-want' basis. By the way... I made you angry with me every time we've met, heh? That was the part I liked the most in our chats, never pondering about my words, saying what I think. Thanks for the bolts.

What I wanted was for you to prove to me that you were as passionate as you claimed. You never did that to Jacynth's satisfaction. You didn't do anything 'wrong', but I wasn't convinced of your passion either. Sometimes, it takes a jolt or two to shake people into a little action and I kept hoping that would happen, but you always kept on like you had been as far as I could see. Granted, you were my first paladin follower so in a lot of ways I was learning from you as much as I was hoping to try to teach you. All in all, it was fun for me and I hope you can say the same.

Everyone knows I were Phindar, Jacynth. I primal goal for keeping playing this mud is to role-play. Phindar I did well, but as your follower I did not. Of course I had fun teasing you to the last, trying my best to get some bolts (hehe), but I really wanted to improve him. The fault was mine, besides being the first paladin of your religion. I saw I had passion, but didn't really took an specific passion to follow. Words without action are mere words. But yes, I had lots of fun. a long time I haven't played a paladin (even more this way), loved to interact with you and all. thanks.

Hehe...I didn't know you were Phindar, but that's okay too. I am really glad to hear that you had a good time playing and I'm glad that you agree about how things went. It really was a hard decision for me and I did enjoy interacting with you. Thanks!

I'm not sure of the character's sphere and if that was or was not worthy of empowerment for a paladin. However, I will re-iterate that empowerment is sphere-based. The cleric (paladin, shaman, healer, or druid) is empowered from that sphere and needs to demonstrate that they are in fact a cleric for that sphere.
While a/the deity of that sphere empowers or unempowers the character, this has nothing to do with an Immortal's religion. A character who follows a specific deity and is accepted by that deity is marked with a tattoo. For a cleric, the tattoo is above and beyond empowerment.
Once again, empowerment is sphere-based and only for clerics. Religions are open for any class and is marked by a tattoo. Empowerment means you preach about the sphere; religion means you follow (and perhaps preach) about a specific deity.
