You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Honestly if I've seriously caused you to think about deleting, I really apologize. I never thought of myself as particularly flamorific, I just disagree on several key issues with the immstaff. When I thought I was becoming too flame-y about a year and a half ago, I stopped posting to avoid being one of "those guys."

You were basically my favorite imm ever when I played as Restraal, and I'm not going to lie, seeing you respond to me personally (when I was basically joking) hurt. Sooo...I just wanted to apologize from this end and say thanks again for everything you do/did/will do.

Buerger.

Appreciated. Part of the issue is that sometimes posts outlive
the original gripe and I have to keep reading the goddam things
forever when I do research on the evolution of a given topic.

That's actually why I responded to you, because I hoped it would
resonate on some level with at least somebody.

I don't mind people disagreeing with the direction we take certain
things, and I wouldn't suggest anyone stop doing that (maturely).

But we're human, and sometimes I get poked enough with the "I'm
not anti-staff, I'm anti-staff decisions" and I start to think,
I'm on the staff, those were partially if not mostly some of my
decisions... why am I showing up? Why am I making this effort
when the reward is invariably to have my judgement questioned
by someone who can't see what's coming? Why am I trying to make
this person's gametime more enjoyable when all they seem to do
is kick me the balls for embracing the part of the game that
*I* like?

Which isn't being kicked in the balls. Just to clear that up.

Qaledus

ps: I'm swamped with work for the next six to eight weeks. I know
that's a kick to my followers (sorry!). In particular, the two guys
who made such excellent roles, I'm looking for you guys when
I can, but if you're not feeling the character without me around
it's going to be a while.

A little administrative note for the uninitiated, and then I'll get my dirty feet off of Qaledus's lil' island:

It's rare that anything added to the game is "one person's idea", and rarer if that thing is at all large. Nearly everything gets kicked around among all or most Immortals, and it's not a simple "Majority rules" decision process. There's any number of things where 5 people like something and 2 hate it (and 20 don't feel strongly about that specific topic), so we kill it and go work on things where everyone involved likes it.

So yes, cheap shot posts tend to resonate with more staff than just the one you're insulting that day. Some of us (me) are vocal enough that you know if we're irritated, but most of the staff isn't all that vocal in that fashion.
