#120, "Thief Guilds"
|
Hey, Qaledus? I was wondering, let's say I wanted my thief character to become a Kingpin of one of the membership guilds. Would I have to be dedicated in that one particular path or could I like mix and match and still becoming a Kingpin in the main path?
For instance, if I wanted to make a Thug/Trapper/Binder thief and just took the early skills for Trapper and Thug and then went as far as I could in Binder as a member of the Hamsah guild. Would it then be possible for my thief to maybe become the Bandit King of Hamsah?
Just to note, I really don't mind not having the point scaled posted for thieves. I like being able to experiment and figure out fun combinations for myself instead of having a table posted. But that's just me. *shrug*

When I took over thieves the idea was that you had to have a majority, if not all, of the skills in the path that guild taught. I'd been bending that rule more and more until we got a Kingpin who didn't have any of the skills of the guild they were in charge of.
I think we're going to tighten that back up. Tell you what I'll do though, is talk to some folks and maybe put an asterisk in the path helpfiles that show you need to learn at least that skill to eligible to lead the guild which teaches it.

I myself enjoy a lot of mystery in niche areas, and tend to get really insane about keeping the shapeshifter forms random and unknown until you get them. However, thieves are of such an archetype that I really would like to have people 'know' with a good degree of confidence they can do with them before they roll up.

How about make thieves MORE like shifters. Meaning you choose your focus -
Stealer Thug Poisoner Binder Trapper
And then you get a set of random skills from a specified pool of abilities. Then maybe we would see a lot more people playing thieves for the different versatility.
