You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

#61, "Scion Induction"

Okay, do the Immortals of Scion have problems with applicants coming to them when they are having difficulty finding the Chancellor/Advisor, or do you prefer the person continue looking for the Chancellor/Advisor and only in extreme circumstances do an interview for induction? Been looking for Gondrak now for 3 weeks, but have only seen him once during my time playing frame.

Well, everyone who wants an interview with Scion may not get one. The immortal patrons generally will work with most folks if a reasonable effort has been made to contact the mortal leaders. I am often about, and a pray might rouse me. Be prepared, I am less kindly than many these days, and I may seek proof of your intent and interest as well as knowledge.

Failing anything else, send an in-game note or email to me and I will do what I can to meet with you.

** Well, everyone who wants an interview with Scion may not get one. **

What do you mean by this? Is it cause there are that many applicants right now, or because of roleplay and such? As for being too many applicants/members, always thought of Scion as one of those that would boot members to make way for the stronger members to join. For roleplay, can easily understand that though.

In my case (I am not speaking for mortal leaders and other immortals), I try to watch the applicant for a time...sometimes a very long time to get a feel for their knowledge and abilities. If I don't see some rp effort, I generally pass them by. Scion has an unspoken cap on the number of 'active' players allowed, and we do not like to stray beyond this number, though we may go lower.

As far as number of applicants...it's pretty much cyclic, lots of highs and lows. Are members easily booted? Often times yes. I try and be a kindly as my rp allows, however. I do not like to step on the funstick of others if possible.

Do we speak with every applicant? No. Most just give up before we interview. Even after an interview, an applicant may or may not be called (ref. our number cap).

If you want to be worth something to Scion, you should not have applied or been part of another cabal; be of value to Scion during your 'wait' periods (aid in defense and retrievals, and so on); keep in touch.
