I am really having trouble getting people to actually rp with me, and always have. I feel like theres 1-3 people at any one range/time I am actually able to rp with effectively, and overall with character interactions I find theres 4 kinds of people: the crazy good rper that pushes me into the shadows a bit, the one that invites responses and exchanges (ideal I think, for me at least), the one that gives the occasional grunt but adds nothing to the exchange, and the rest that basically say "oh hes rping, just be quiet and he cant say much."

Am I just tremendously bad at rp and I dont realize it so people stay away? I tried asking on the forums how I could get people to rp with me more often, but I just got a curt response from Lyristeon saying "you are rewarded for what you do, not what others do." The problem with this is, if people dont respond, you just look like you're self flagellating. So I thought you might help...how do I get people to run the two way rp street with me?

Many people have forgotten how to play. By this, I refer to the type of play that was based on pretending to be someone else a childhood hero for example. It's a common theme among adults and teenagers that to pretend is somehow tied back to being immature and in some ways embarrassing.

It is not a question of being bad at rp, it is a question of willing involvement and immersion in the faux role and personality of yours and the other player's characters. How deep the involvement goes is dependent on the comfort level of the person.

As far as other immortal comments, do not take them to heart. Many of us have forgotten how to play also. We sometimes become immersed in our own immortalness and are not experiencing your issues. I know that I have been subject and subjected to what you describe.

You can only do what you can. This is a partly RP environment and you have discovered you cannot force people to pretend with you. Each will have their own approach.
