#54, "Vindicator policies"
|
Hi there,
I was recently browsing through the new help files on Vindicators and Justicars, seeing what new blood was brought to the Tribunal Cabal. I have ran in to some inconsistences, though, could you please explain them Drunsthol?
1) Vindicators can use their guards outside of town, this is a given. But, does that mean they can walk around all over Thera effectively using the guards to raid/attack and other such things?
2) If a Vindicator is on patrol (are they always?) and they have guards out and are attacked, is that warrant for a flag?
3) If no to 2, does this mean they can still use their guards though?
4) If the Vindicator is searching for a criminal around Thera, but is attacked without the criminal in sight/area(and the attacker not knowing he is searching for one), does that warrant a flag?
If yes is answered to any/all of these, I believe it should be better placed in the helpfile laws, so people do not get unfairly warranted. Though the punishment is IC, now with out-of-town punishment instituted, it has to be looked at. Thanks for reading

This is possible, yes, though the focus of using special guards should be in hunting criminals, not gathering gear.
>2) If a Vindicator is on patrol (are they always?) and they >have guards out and are attacked, is that warrant for a flag?
Vindicators do not have the ability to place warrants.
>3) If no to 2, does this mean they can still use their guards >though?
Yes, they can still use their guards if they are attacked.
>4) If the Vindicator is searching for a criminal around Thera, >but is attacked without the criminal in sight/area(and the >attacker not knowing he is searching for one), does that >warrant a flag?
We've discussed this, and are working on clarifying it now. Currently the inclination is: if a Vindicator is attacked outside the protected cities it is not a crime.

We're working on it. Thanks for the questions.

I'm going on possibly outdated policy but if I'm wrong please let me know Drunsthol.
1) Guards are meant for their duties and their duties only, being the wrath of the law this means only for tribunal related activities. If you aren't wanted and a vindy beats on you with guards (he starts the fight, not you) or he's out with guards in the Inn while no criminals are on or something, then he's generally in violation.
2) Could be, if he's hunting a foe and can get away with saying that you attacking him is allowing the escape of his foe then its possible that you broke the law regarding aiding and abetting known criminals. Generally, he shouldn't always have guards with him, but if he does it all depends on what he can get away with. Technically, he shouldn't have guards for aimlessly wandering around nor are they his personal bodyguards, but that being said having guards is a sign that you are carrying out tribunal duties and interfering with him as he strives to hunt down criminals is a fuzzy subject.
3) If you attack them, they can use their guards no matter what the circumstances are so long as they aren't calling them specifically to fight you. IE: If he's got guards and you attack him he doesn't have to banish them, thats your fault for messing with him.
4) Generally, if he's out hunting , being the wrath of the laws, if you mess with the wrath of the laws then you're incurring the wrath of the laws. In general, its a bad idea to go around picking fights with vindicators unless you have a valid gripe or don't mind getting warranted. Its already in the laws, under 'aiding and abetting criminals'.
Anyway if I'm wrong on any of this since I played my last Vindicator let me know Drun, I wouldn't want to be handing out mis-info.

Well it could be my misconception but it seems that since the cities are the only protected parts of thera. then those are the only places you can perform a crime. If that vindicator is hnting on eastern road he is not protected by the laws so he should not be allowed to warrant you.
my question is using guards to raid. guards are for enforcing laws not taking items. especially when oblin used them just to kill the ranger to attract me when i was not warrented I thought that was bs, but he got the short end of that deal in the end and I got a couple of shinies!
I would like to see less guards I think kelrizza and agarah are the only tribunals I see that act as more then just an escort for their guards.

If they have their guards with them, then they are on spire business (e.g hunting criminals). If they are on spire business and you attack them, then IMO it is a crime.

Only Vindicators can hunt outside of cities with special guards. Justiciars can not.
