You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

#30, "Groupmates"

I am attacked. My groupmate is assisting. Why the devil is Law 1 applied to them. They did not initiate the attack, they (auto) assisted me when I was attacked. It seems a little screwed up to do that.

Let's say Jim, Bob and Patti are sitting at Market Square in Galadon as they get ready to move out for some good old mob killing action. Rudolph the Tribunal is also at Market Square keeping an eye out for lawbreakers.

In comes Jefferson the thief, known for his crazy antics. Jefferson sees an opportunity and tries to blackjack Jim, but fails and starts a fight. Bob and Patti autoassist Jim since they are in Jim's group and wind up fighting the thief.

Now Jefferson gets flagged immediately for his attack. However, Rudolph decides that Bob and Patti are guilty as well for autoassisting their groupmate Jim even though they and their groupmate did nothing. Is that fair? That's what the original poster was asking.

I would definitely say that Bob and Patti are not guilty of anything and that Rudolph made a big mistake when he flagged Bob and Patti.

And the same answer applies. Autoassist.

With the exception of a Trib actually sitting in the room, anything else would be impossible to enforce or prove no?

You will be held responsible for your groupmate's actions.

-Taken from the laws. Also, if you think about it...Once your groupmate has attacked in town he becomes a criminal (regardless of whether or not he is flagged right away.) and you are at that pointed aiding a criminal. (Another rule of the law.)

I believe that when a groupmate assists, the orignal attacker doesn't yell his name out or anything. Now, if it's the case where your groupmate isn't autoassiting, and tries to spell up someone or dirt kick them, or attacks them, well, that's a different story now isn't it. It's because they directly attacked someone.

For most Tribunals, if there's a name yelled out, that person's getting flagged.

Sounds super fair to me. Groupmates are fully capable of typing AUTOASSIST and turning it off.
