Coming to a crash-reboot near you soon:

Accumulating imm-awarded experience will give you a chance for a small free skill improvement, remarkably like the one you see upon levelling. This occurs automatically whenever you've earned enough of this experience.

A corollary of this change is that being awarded XP for quest participation, good roleplay, etc. is now at least slightly desirable, even to heroes.

Great change, guys. Has there been any thought given to upping the xp rewards related to level? Getting 700 exp in the sub-ten ranks is an awesome sight when comparing percent TNLs; I'd love to see a similar percentage based reward given out in the higher ranks, for example a fire giant a-p that would need a cool 30K to hero could appreciate the rarety of the xp bonus but might appreciate it more if it dented his TNL.

What do you think? Let me know if you'd prefer this over on another board.
