#87, "Outlander Leaders"

Is it possible we will ever see outlander leader powers? A suggestion I would make is bring back some of the better powers from the cabals outlander replaced. Something along the lines of wall of thorns for the sunwarden, insect swarm for the harbinger, and dopple for the nightreaver. Based on leader powers some other cabals get, and the relative pain of being an outlander (the only cabal I personnaly think is more restrictive is battle), I don't think this would really throw anything out of wack game balance wise, and could give outlander a real boost.

Leaders are treated on a case-by-case basis. Those who have stuck around long enough have all received a share of attention from the Ancients, including rewards of skills, spells, weapons, and the cabal as a whole is still receiving attention and scrutiny from the powers that be.

Two of the Outlander positions (Sunwarden and Nightreaver) are also unique in that they require very little effort compared to most leadership positions. The cabal is kept on the smaller side, and most those that apply are neutral, giving the Sunwarden and the Nightreaver very little of a burden to endure beyond the "fun" aspect of roleplaying their position and getting a title and immteraction. The benefits that come with the leadership position are more than enough initial reward, in my opinion, and even that aside everyone who has served in either position for any appreciable length of time has been rewarded for the dedication and effort. (And the few that weren't around for an appreciable length of time were actually on my list for getting some soon before they up and deleted on me.)

That said, this isn't to say we'd never consider such things in the future, and it isn't to say the idea hasn't come up. It just hasn't been seen as a necessity or a priority at this time. Even if it were implemented, as long as I have any say I'd never want anything of the caliber of wall of thorns or doppleganger to be an automatic reward. Those are awfully nice spells, and some leaders seem like they have potential and then downright suck when given a chance to show their true colors.

Leaders in those cabals(justiciar/vindy/provost/emperor/sect leaders) all get very nice powers. And seeing how outlanders already are far down on the powers/restrictions spectrum, I definitley think a lil something would be in place for the outlanders that stick it out.

Even if you don't wanna hand out wall of thorns or doppelganger, there's other stuff.. like dispers, randomize or insect swarm :> or maybe even something new :p

As Pico agreed, Outlander Cabal != Entropy Cabal. If you were going to go throwing Entropy powers to the Outlanders, I'd vote for them to be redone to fit the cabal, or have restrictions on the powers to better fit the cabal. Entropy was about Chaos, Outlander is about Anti-Order, two different things. Though I'm not in favor of this happening either way.

Empire and Tribunal also are set up where initial induction gives you powers far more limited than the powers a new inductee into Outlander receives. A new Trib's powers are limited to a single area, an Imperial Bloodoath gets virtually nothing, whereas an Outlander gets access to the full range of cabal powers from the get-go.

Unlike the two "order" cabals, it would be bizarre to set up Outlander as an "earn you way up the hierarchy" system. I make every effort to see to it that people in the leadership positions will get the attention and reward they deserve for the effort invested, and for now it'll be left at that.

Outlander leaders get plenty of attention. Even though I was a Crappy Premature Deleter, I got a good bit of immteraction, and as she said, there was stuff down the pipe for me.

I don't think there is a problem here vis a vis outlander leaders vs. other cabal leaders.

Also, to Amaranthe, sorry for being one of the above mentioned Crappy Premature Deleters.
