#134, "Upcoming "Maternity Leave""

I am currently expecting my second child, due to be born as soon as 6 weeks from now.
This will entail a prolonged absense on my part. Last time I was expecting, about 3 years ago, I stepped away from CF, thinking I would never return. About a year later, I realized that though I really didn't have time to MUD beyond a few casual characters anymore, contributing as a staff member is a hobby I really enjoy and wanted to continue. Not all stay-at-home-mothers are drawn towards scrapbooking and tole painting to express creativity I guess!
So this time, I have made arrangements with the staff to have a formal "maternity leave" of sorts.
I will be increasingly scarce in areas of mortal interaction over the coming six weeks. In addition to final preparations for the baby, there are a few behind-the-scenes MUD projects I'd like to complete as well.
While I may give some folks my blessing to empower die-hard Amaranthians in my absence, I will formally be making my religion dormant by the end of March. If you have your heart absolutely set on playing an Amaranthian priest, I highly recommend creating the character in the next few weeks, or take your chances.
The Outlander cabal will be left in the hands of Lyristeon and Innis. As Lyristeon has a busy work schedule as well, Innis has been recruited primarily for this purpose, and can hopefully be a consistent presence for the cabal. The cabal has been my "other baby" for quite some time, so I loathe to leave it, but I'm sure Innis and Lyristeon will do a fine job.
Once I drop of the face of Thera, I expect to return sometime between 3-6 months, and less active (at least from the mortal perspective) for some time after that, as imm projects can be done more piecemeal than immteractions. I will however be lurking about the forums and reading my email prior to that.

Congratulations! I am jealous!
Seriously, I'm very happy for you. But I'm also selfish. And upset that I had plans to return to the game, and the Amaranthian pull was my driving urge to come back. (I took one look at Voralian City and rolled my first character since Melfie...). Oh well
Enjoy everything! Hope everything goes well!

Wow, glad I caught you in time then. Thanks for the awesome interaction the other night, and I wish you the best of luck with your family and home. I'm sure you bring them the same creativity and flair you bring to the game! Splntrd

Wow... I REALLY like Innis, and Lyristeon has done lots for the cabal, but Amaranthe has always had that special flair that made anonymous immteraction great. When you go, it will feel like something is missing. I never got around to making a follower of yours, but if the interaction you gave to your followers was anything like what you give to Outlanders, I'm sure it would have been super.
Specialness about the children! I wanna have kids one day, but CF just seems to interfere with that
Good luck!

Thank you for all the support you've given me through the time up to now. And I'll slip in a prayer to the ancients to give you a painless short duration birth, with a kid who loves sleep and does not have any problems
