This may be by design, but it seemed weird enough to post just in case.

I haven't checked every weapon type, but most of the "white" weapons created via the Maran lightforge skill seem to be made of energy, while the alternative one (with the fire prog) is made of silver.

However, the two-handed "white" sword (claymore) is made of silver just like the two-handed progging sword (flamberge).

Should it be energy?

I think it's kinda dumb and boy did I have to hold back my nerf instincts.
