Is this supposed to be an inherent skill (i.e. can get better over time and use to 100%)? Currently doesn't show up on the list of inherent.

It's just a thing dwarves do. You don't have to practice it, inherent it, or increase it as a skill. You can't lose it from forget and all that jazz. You are a dwarf, you can be a walking castle wall at your leisure. Get to it!
