This seems to happen all the time with elf shifter

In your berserking rage, you bound forward to destroy a sleek black jaguar!
They aren't here.
A sleek black jaguar has arrived.

Have logs with it in other forms too. Not sure if tattoo or something, but I don't initiate combat even though I bound like it.

You should, consistently, not auto-attack elves in form.
