I have not tested eyes of flame without having detect evil already up already but when I call it, after I am already effected by the detect evil commune, it doesn't seem to work (I don't auto-attack). I have tried to utilize it against shamans, necromancers, and warriors to no avail.

One note is that eyes of flame won't make you attack most of the people on your list.
