You are viewing a read-only archive of the Carrion Fields discussion forums built from a snapshot of the forum database on 2026-08-25. The search page works, though it is not as sophisticated as the old forum search. This archive encompasses approximately 25 years of CF discussion. Today, that discussion continues on Discord (see the main website for a link).

Some of the special-purpose forums are listed below along with their replacements (as of writing):

Are you active at all? 99% of the fortress these days are squires and scribes. I know you're pretty busy, but with the Imperials on the rise like they are, it can be a little frustrating to be up over 200 hours in the cabal, constantly fighting the forces of evil, having your leaders and cabalmates repeatedly commend you on how good an example of a Maran you are, then to still be a fricking squire.

He is definitely around. He's always around. You just never see him. That's Shokai's style which I happen to like. And that percentate is way off. Consistently, I've usually seen one or two maran on anytime I log in which is much higher than it was when I was Fahnrore.

Yes I'm active, and if *you* were as active as I am, you wouldn't be saying that 99% of the Fort is squires. Off the top of my head I can think of about 3 squires that show up on a regular basis. I can think of about 4 Maran that show up on a regular basis. That already does away with your 99%.

If you're not being promoted, ask yourself these questions:

* Do I (you) log in regularly?
* Have I just been inducted?
* Am I doing all the things a squire should be doing?
* Am I doing anything against the creed, guild rules, or general roleplay for my character?
* Do I ever log on when Shokai might be around?

For the last one, I do try to check who's been around and who is active, even when I'm not around...but if I don't see you, chances are that promotion is going to take a longer time.

As far as leaders and cabalmates commending you, they haven't written any notes that say that. Since I've yet to recieve any notes recently commending anyone.

Becoming a Maran is not a right. While it certainly shouldn't be as hard as liching.. I can remember times when there were one or two Maran.. Total. When people get inducted in the Fortress, while you could hope for, you should not expect to be made a Maran.

Perhaps I am off base.. but this is how I've seen it from my perspective over the years. (grant, Ana was my only fortress person ever)

Really? I was positive I'd sent one in particular, but maybe I'll send it again just in case I went stupid and failed to do it somehow.

So if you see a missive you've already seen, assume it's because I thought you didn't get the first one, rather than am being pushy.

No seriously though, I just hadn't seen you or heard about your presence around the Fortress in the entire span of this characters life, I was just checking for a pulse. I'm not taking getting the promotion for granted, but I have noticed (at my playing times) an abundance of squires and scribes, and few Marans and Acolytes. It may be a playing time issue, but I dunno. Thats why I asked. I didn't mean to say "Hey bitch, get off your hairy Betty Crocker ass and promote me". That would be uncool of me.
