At the time he played i was a total newbie and my first char was a drow assassin. Every time before he killed me, he offered me the chance to redeem myself. I think he figured i was new. He was ferociuos, relentless, cunning and most of all flawless rp. He didnt care if there was a tribunal in town or not. This thing below was happening right in front of a trib, in MS in galadon.

This is what i remember about him the best.

"Turn to the ligh, find redemption in your heart...sahib"

I would ask him why turn, because every maran will attack me anyway because im drow. Of course i would promise anything to get him to leave my newbie a$$ alone.

He would say:
"If you show me you seek the ligh and prove you seek the Skyborn, no Maran will strike, i promise you that sahib."

I would say..ok cool, ill do that, just go away. But he wasnt dumb enough to fall for my newbie tricks.

Then he says.
"Then, your journey to the light begins now, sahib. The skull rings you wear, sacrifice them and send the back to heaven. The black dagger is also tainted by darkness, drop it and sacrifice it too."

Well, i had just gotten these new shiny rings from the pit and the super black serrated dagger, which i could not possibly do without, i wasnt about to just drop em. Who knows when i could get em again. So i told em ill keep em, because i have no other armor. THen i see this.

Jubair sighs.
Jubair says 'I see you were not serious about the Skyborn. So be it...sahib.'
Jubair shrugs.

A sudden pain erupts through your skull.

He got wanted, fled from the guards, let them chase him around a bit, then came back to MS and dual stabbed me, which killed me. He died to the guards in the lag from backstab. Didnt ask for anything back from the tribs, slept in MS for a bit and then forged his light weapons again. I never could figure out how he could kill me with 2 trips, now i know

Anyway, just wanted to post this...

Bah. I"m rememberin' back in th'good ol'days where there wasn't anythin' like squire's 'n acolytes 'n such. Things got too complicated, eh.....those were th'good ole' days.....

A lot of this advice is good for any cabal you're applying to. There are a handful of these that I think can and should be applied to any situation, and while they certainly apply to the Fortress, they're good enough to be used everywhere:

1. Live like a maran. Shokai and Vynmylak aren't looking for squires who act like good squires. They are looking for squires who act like good maran.

This is slightly bigger than some people may think. Applying this to another cabal for a moment, assume you're applying for battle and want to be a berserker. Play that role to the hilt from the academy until death. As with real life, people don't just slip into a new role out of nowhere, characters taht have some evolution to them and have a 'realistic' feel have always been my favorite. This is one of the tools to tweak your character into a feeling real...and not cardboard.


For goodness sake, dude! If your rp dies just because you got full looted, then you need to do something with your role.

I don't think I can even begin to explain how vital this is, I think there are a lot of situations where someone loses all credibility because they lose their temper. Bad roleplay moments stick around like a beef and cabbage fart in parked car in the middle of summer. Yes it sucks to die, yes it sucks to lose all your gear...but someone shouldn't be able to loot your rp. Death and looting are part of the game, don't be arrogant enough to believe that you're better than that. I'm not, you're not, no one is....hell it's rumored that even Nep gets killed and looted from time to time.

One other thing I'll toss out here, and you can take this how you wish to take it, but one of the things I plan on doing after my hiatus is taking a real hard look at the Fortress and how it's working. Expect some house cleaning to happen. That said, I'm back to being away.
