#9478, "The Hunt..."

If there was one thing in the entire game I have ever truely considered overpowered, it's the Hunt. I don't see how when I am DEEP down underground, behind angry mobs and many locked doors that cannot be passed through, a hidden druid can call the hunt on me and I NEVER even see the druid once and die without ANY chance. This is seriously one annoying ability. At least with nightgaunts people can WORD/TELEPORT/SUCCUMB AND FIGHT BACK! Nothing can be done to a camoed druid while his hunts destroys you. If anything, make it so it can only be called on a player if they are in the wilderness as well as you, or at least near the wilderness. Note: It was the same druid who got briartangle changed if it matters.

The Hunt is not over-powered.
Yeah, that's all.

Give the hunter the same penalties as the hunted. No transportation, no hiding. In all fairness though, you shouldn't die to a hunt unless you put yourself into a position to. "Knowledge speaks, but wisdom listens." - Jimi Hendrix

There's a set of restrictions upon where the Hunt may be used. I think they're pretty fair and that you're almost certainly underestimating them.

It wouldn't, though I don't think it was.

I was deep within the Jade Vaults the first time, and with the crimson dragon the second time (was on a groupmate) and literally only one or two days later he put another one on me. That doesn't seem very limited in any way shape or form. He can call it that often and I am still hurt from the last encounter, there was no way I could survive. The time in the Vaults I was deep within, I did not know the hunt couild be called to a civilized location so I had no chance but to die as an invoker with no preps up. The thing did 3-4 DEMO a round. Even with over 1k hp that's a guaranteed dead invoker who can't even try to retaliate in any way shape or form. I think it is a the only overpowered thing in the game seriously. Fiend can easily be fended and retaliated for, nightgaunts can easily be fended and retaliated for, the Hunt cannot for either.

Escaping the hunt by just walking away from it is easy peasy, unless you happen to be caught with your pants down in one of a few places where you cannot just walk away. And if you get caught with your pants down like that, it's your own fault per definition. Most likely due to a too passive playing style.

Although I never died to it I did find it a little bit sketchy. What I'd like to see is its effect wear off entirely if you manage to get to a new area. I remember getting hunted in the mountains south of the Fortress and I ran all the way to Azuremain and the damn thing kept tracking me and I still couldn't word for several ticks.

I remember my surprise when I shifted to an air form and flew away from the thing, only to have it kill me in the half way across the world in midair.

As far as the dying in the air thing goes, I'm sorry, but that is just weak. How the hell does the thing chase into mid air? heh. I do also think though, that there should be certain concessions made to the person that it is called on. If you kill the hunt, the no magic moving around should stop with it's death. As far as the druid staying hidden while the hunt chases you, that is also fairly weak in my opinion. Maybe make it so the hunt will only continue chasing the target if the druid is visible? Something to the affect of, if the hunt thinks the druid left, why should it continue? However to be totally honest, as far as tweaks I would like to see done, the hunt isn't very high on my list.

It's the spirit of the Wild Hunt of Norse? mythology, basically.

Since the Hunt is such a fast, strong mob that is smart enough to always hit its main target in a fight, how about we give druids a commune called "mystic circle" and treat the hunt like a conjurer pet? Hey, if conjies have to deal with their charmies being ####stains, why shouldn't the druid? They already get treants and CoW's that are virtually mindless.
(This is to be taken with a grain of salt.)
