It runs from MS-DOS prompt? What version of Windows you running?
When you're in your client, click on the top left of that window. The MS DOS icon. A drop down list should come down and explore the submenus (especially one named EDIT if you have it) and click PASTE.
I'm pretty sure all versions of MS-DOS you're able to do that...
If you want some one-on-one help with this, feel free to e-mail me.
It really is a pain to lose all that work, and the only way to prevent that is to keep it saved locally somehow, then paste it in.
You might want to look into a new client though.
Myself, I don't use zMud. I use a not-so-popular terminal called ZOC, which can be found at www.emtec.com.

my client doesn't have anywhere you can click. The mouse is not active when I am using it. It is entirely text controlled.
Personally, I think it does the job, and while wintin etc look more swish, I'm happy to stick with mine, and restrict myself to macros, variables, aliases and highlights.
